8597.0. "Can't run mentor application on v3.2G" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Ravid Shimon) Mon Jan 27 1997 10:07

Hi,

I have installed from scratch Digital Unix v3.2G and Mentor Graphics
application
version b.1.

when trying to activate dmgr i get the following :

// Fail: OUT OF MEMORY -
Assertion (new_space) failed. Line 385 of "Isrc/core_pagetable.C"
/home/mentor/mgc_home/bin/dmgr: 1332 Abort

When trying to activate 'librarian' i get the following :

// Fail: OUT OF MEMORY -
Assertion (new_space) failed. Line 385 of "Isrc/core_pagetable.C"
/home/mentor/mgc_home/bin/dmgr: 1332 Abort

forrtl: info: fortran error message number is 76
forrtl: warning: could not open message catalog for_msg.cat
forrtl: info: check environment variable NLSPATH and protection of
              /usr/lib/nls/msg/en_US.ISO8859-1

Note that the application is running when sitting on PC as
an X-terminal.

Any idea ?

Regards,

Ravid Shimon

I had this same problem with an AlphaStation 500 running Mentor. I
increased the swap, I added more memory but nothing fixed it.

The good news however was that Mentor tech support after two weeks
found the answer for me. The installed graphics card was an L2 and
changing the Xserver.conf to include, if my memory serves me correctly,
the arg "-vclass PseudoColor" fixed the problem.

I hope the above gives you a clue.

    Regards,
    	David
