8577.0. "Prblms adding drd disk in TCR140, what do we do wrong" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (martin) Fri Jan 24 1997 09:56
Help !!! -...
When we are making the drd devices for the OPS in a Trucluster Production
server
V1.4. Somebody else must have tried this too...
We make all the disks in LSM (tablespace, redo, etc.etc.), but when adding the
drd
service we get this error: (extracted from the output below)
*** Found disk /dev/rz16 on more than one service (redosp1_01 and rbssp_0)
The output below are from the asemgr, and a voldisk on oradg.
I hope we can get some info
Best regards MArtin, (who would like a cluster for testing out this)

You are now adding a new DRD disk service to your ASE.
A DRD disk service is comprised of any number of DRDs which can be
created from a single raw disk partition or LSM volume which will
be accessible from all members in the cluster.
Note: If using a raw disk partition please be sure that the character
device special file exists on all members which are in this ASE.
DRD Service Name
The name of a DRD disk service must be a unique service name within this ASE.
Enter the DRD disk service name ('q' to quit): redosp1_01
You will now be prompted to enter a list of devices comprising
the DRD service, enter Return when you have completed the list.
Enter an existing character device special file for one of the following:
a physical device (ie /dev/rrz1c)
a LSM volume (ie /dev/rvol/dg/vol01)
To end the list, press the Return key at the prompt.
Enter character device special file: /dev/rvol/oradg/redosp1_01

I guess you need to re-plan your setup. You would need at least 2 LSM
volume groups and you should plan for far less drd services with a
couple of drd devices each. Have a look at:
EPS::ORACLE 1386.2
Hope this helps

Thanks for the pointer, we now have to check if this goes for Digital_unix

Should work the same way for V4.0 and TCR140. Make sure you apply the
required Oracle patches to run on 4.0. And a little hint (at no extra
charge):
mkdir /usr/lib/X11/nls
This will help getting the Motif based Oracle tools (svrmgrm) running.
For some unknown reason Oracle has this path hardcode and the directory
dissapeared with X11R6.
