    Farrell,

What I *actually* want to do, is figure out how to *permanently*
configure the ppp access for dialin. I've looked in Chapter 4 & 13 of
Network Admin Guide... We've been through some troubleshooting stuff
    too...

    when we do this,

    /usr/sbin/pppd defaultroute

we get all kinds of jibberish... we got that when trying to test the
    network routing functionality...

What is the exact syntax for setting up the ppp link for dialin...

I've setup the account for PPP and GUEST using the guide, we didn't
setup a password and when we put 'ppp' at the 'login:' it sends us the
    above ...

    thanks,

    /Mic

I seem to have an easier time "missing" replies in various threads with
this interface. Anyway...

If you've set up an account that invokes pppd instead of a shell, and
when you log in to that account you get "gibberish" it sounds like
you're on the right track. The "gibberish" is pppd attempting to
establish a connection. It's expecting to talk to another ppp peer
at this point (it does not expect to be talking to a person.)

If you're "dialing in" from another Digital UNIX system with tip or
something, what you need to do now is to set up ppp on that system (the
one doing the dialing now...) If you're using win95 then you need to set
up a new connection with "dial-up networking".
