| This took a while since customer is a DEC SI guy who is a moving
target; very busy person. He found the time to give the following
feedback:
"I want to thank you for the help with the RIS server setup for
UNIX 4.0. I finally got the server working. I was uncommenting
the joind daemon entry in the /etc/inetd.conf file ( it took the
place of the bootpd daemon), but, unkown to me, the system had
already configured it to come up automatically for DHCP.
This resulted in multiple copies of the joind daemon coming up &
stepping on each other. What obscured the problem was the fact
that I could transmit the 3.2c ris environment using the same
setup in 4.0a- which still used the joind daemon!
Oh well, what can I say.
Thanks once again!!!
