Nearly a year on and the UK CSC have just had what sounds
like just the same call logged.

Our troublestatement is that the backspace on PC keyboards)
is working as a delete key in dxnotepad.

In other applications it behaves itself as expected and
deletes the character behind it. With dxnotepad however
what it does is delete the character it's on rather
than the one behind it.

Currently I've suggested he uses dtpad (from command line)/
Text Editor (from menus) as is provided with v4 and leave
dxnotepad as not designed to work with V4.

This is fine as this resolves the problem for dxnotepad, so
now we have a new question which is what's the difference
between the two in how they interpret keyboard mapping
since they have a third party application which is showing
the same behaviour as dxnotepad was, and they'd like to
tell the third party what is wrong with it so they can
change it to behave like dtpad does. The application is
I-logviews (sp?)

Any suggestions will be gratefully received, and hopefully
this dtpad comment might help out anyone else with the
same problem in future.

6086.3Something to add to .Xdefaults fileUNIFIX::HARRISJuggling has its ups and downsTue Apr 22 1997 12:1912
add the following line to the .Xdefaults file in the user's login
    directory:

    	*defaultVirtualBindings:\n\
             osfBackSpace: <Key>Delete\n

I got this from the BULOVA::DECWINDOWS notes conference, note 5763.2.
It was posted by GIDDAY::KINGSMILL "Geoff Kingsmill, Australia".

This cured the problem for me.
