2679.0. "%OA-I-CAB_NO_SDAF_REC" by ALFSS2::BEKELE_D (When indoubt THINK!) Wed May 14 1997 19:40

    Greetings!

I have the following nasty customer problem:

Intermittently, the Fetcher runs into a problem with mail coming
from the internet (via Softswitch) causing the Sender to fail.

This is what I believe is happening: There is a user(s) whose
ALL-IN-1 account has autoforwarding set to CCmail. The Fetcher
gives-up once the "retry" count has been exceeded but since the user
has autoforwarding records with empty sender/subject/recipient
get created in the Sender queue. After awhile these bad records
accumulate and the Sender completely dies (on top of this the Sender
queue has large numbers of "deferred" msgs in a heavy mail environment!
    - This is V3.0A and a large customer site moving vvvvery slow to
    upgrade!).

The user associated most (three out of the four incidents so far)
with this problem successfully receives mail from the same source
most of the time and the problem started recently eventhough customer
is unable to associate it with any changes they may have made (also
other customer sites with similar setups do not experience problem).

The NBS files appear to be ok (I have them if someone wants to take
a look). $ANA/DISK/NOREPAIR produces no error and the shared directories
can expand. Attached is what is recorded in OA$MTI_ERR (note: the
errors at 20:44:32 are for the Fetcher and those at 20:52:34 belong
    to the Sender).

    Any clue is much appreciated!

Forgot to mention that this site has Sender and Fetcher running in
        parallel.

Since the record (OA$SHARE279:ZWVMTMWX3.WPL) created at 20:44:32
belongs to the Fetcher and the record ([.MSG]ZWVMTMWX2.WPL)
created at 20:52:34 belongs to the Sender and given the similarity
of the file names, does this suggest that the later represents the
outgoing NBS file (envelop) was in the process of being built?

Any comment is really, really appreciated! :^)

I asked the mail team about this, and they said that (in the context of
us now working on V4.0!!!) that V3.0A is so old that they can't now
remember how that mail code worked, but they thought that an upgrade
would almost certainly fix the problem...

    Sorry,
