2659.0. "SMU read EVENT message ACC VIO" by TAV02::CHAIM (Semper ubi Sub ubi .....) Mon May 05 1997 10:04
ALL-IN-1 V3.0a
A customer has described the following problem:
A user, USER1, who has both SO and SMU privs to another user, USER2, has been
experiencing access violations while reading event invitations sent to USER2
after issuing SMU. However, the problem is not always reproducible, and appears
to eventually succeed after several attempts. USER2 does not appear to have the
problem reading her own mail, but this is inconclusive since USER1 normally
takes care of USER2's mail etc.
We tried granting SO and SMU from USER2 to both another USER3 account and to
MANAGER and in both cases an access violation is sometimes encountered. On the
other hand there are other users who issue SMU and have not complained of any
problems.
We haven't been able to establish if this occurs only with events of any
particular user.
I realize that I don't have too much information, but perhaps someone has some
direction in which to point me.
Thanks,
Cb.

2659.2 | Not fixed in 3.2 | SNOFS1::JOYCEJENNY | Still crazy after all these years | Tue May 06 1997 02:20 | 10 |
| This problem is not fixed in 3.2 and the problem has been IPMTed.
I have a feeling that there is a patch for 3.1 that fixes it, but if so
it wasn't applied to 3.2
The work-around I've discovered (for 3.2) is that if the user does a SO
before the SMU it seems ok. It seems to crash when it is doing a

Are you certain? From what I see the IPMT is still open, and according to at
least one reply the problem still exists in V3.2.

Cb.
