2651.0. "horiz. and vertical. Pitching with printstyle 'PS' " by FRAIS::EDDF10::BEELE () Tue Apr 29 1997 09:45

   There is a strange behaviour when modifying Vertical and Horizontal
   pitches in Printer Setup of the printer table: PS_3500.PRA (ALL-IN-1/US 3.2)

   When increasing Vertical and Horizontal Pitch (e.g. from VP: 6 and HP: 10
   to VP: 10 and HP: 15) the output on the Printer 'HP Laserjet 4'
   with printstyle "PS" is moving to the left down corner. What is to do
   to center the printer output ?

    Ingo,

    Set the Page Size field to reflect the new Vertical Pitch. You'll
    probably find that it is set to 66 (11 inches @ 6 pitch). If you set it
    to 110 (11 inches @ 10 pitch) that should solve your problem.

    With PostScript printing the origin is in the bottom left-hand corner
    (unlike ANSI printing). This means that your 66 lines are printed in
    the bottom left, giving you the unusual output.

    Hope that helps,
    Russ.
2651.2More flexible with 'Vertical Spacing Adjustment' ?FRAIS::EDDF10::BEELEWed Apr 30 1997 19:4211
    Thanks for the hint to use Page Size: 110 - It works !

    Is there also a way (more flexible) to do this with using

    'Vertical Spacing Adjustment' parameter in 'Printer Setup' of
            printer Tables ?

    Regards

2651.3Changes to tables are too genericIOSG::ELLIOTTRRussell ElliottThu May 01 1997 19:0014

    "Vertical spacing adjustment" and "Horizontal spacing adjustment" were
    designed for _small_ adjustments to the PostScript origin. For example,
    they can be used to overcome the slight differences between origins on
    different makes of printers; or to get your pre-printed stationery to
    line up a bit better.

    The values are added to every PostScript coordinate that the WPS-PLUS
    formatter produces. For this reason I do not recommend using them for
    the purpose you described.
