2624.0. "AIDA with access violation" by VAXRIO::VALERIA () Tue Apr 15 1997 22:07

	Hi

my customer has a problem since the upgrade from ALL-IN-1 3.0A with
VAX VMS 5.5-2 to ALL-IN-1 3.1 with APLHA VMS 6.2 and remote DDS.
In fact, there are two problems with AIDA server... Both occur when the
    user access DDS from TeamLinks.

    1. Using TeamLinks, he cannot find a user on Directory Services if the user
is not on local server... In fact, this node is a WSN since 12-april, so
only large list of users doesn't appear. If I select all users on an
specified department, the error message "no matching entries" appears and
no user is shown. Before the change to WSN, only local users were shown.
I think is a timeout problem, but I'm not sure... How can I increment the
    timeout value??

    2. The second problem is an access violation message, but the server
process doesn't die, only the error message appears in the log file... I
cannot reproduce the problem, I don't know what the user does to cause the
error message. The trace file is below...

    Thanks for any help !
    Valeria.

    Hi Valeria,

To increase the DDS timeout :

    $ DEFINE/SYS/EXEC OA$AIDA_DDS_TIMEOUT_SECONDS n

Where n is the number of seconds you're willing to wait before timeout
occurs. You don't need to stop the AIDA server for this logical to be
picked up as any new DDS subprocesses should take the new value. Having
said that, I always stop and restart just be 100% sure.

Regarding the access violations, I suggest you install ICF 38 to at
least get the latest version of the AIDA server. You should probably
then install the CMA patch ALPCMAR04_062, which fixes a lot of strange
problems that will occur with the servers (FCS included).

If you then still get the access violations, let me know via this
    conference.

    -Kevin.

	Hi Kevin

I'm going to test the DDS timeout...
These patches are already installed. We had a
a FCS problem on another node which was solved with
VMS patches... but on this node the problem persists.
I've already opened an IPMT for this...

	Thanks !
	Valeria.

You should install the ALPCMAR and ALPSHAD ecos to get fixes that
will help ALL-IN-1. Don't forget to install the ALPLIBR05 eco, so
your system will still be running on May 19.
