Hi All,
We are trying to help a custommer migrate from ALL-IN-1 VAX to ALL-IN-1
Alpha.
It is not possible to migrate the ALL-IN-1 because it is still in v2.4
on the VAX and it is a production machine with other applications.
So we thought of making the users send by mail their documents to the new
environment (ALL-IN-1 Alpha).
Is there an option in the latest version of ALL-IN-1 Alpha that enables
the option of sending FOLDERS by mail ? or do they have to send every
document separatly ? If they use the select all documents and then do a
xf or xs they arrive all in one document right ?

Ana,
Another option would be to up upgrade the V2.4 system to V3.0 and then
migrate the filecabinets via the shared drawer mechanism. Unfortunately
you'd need the DSO (Distributed Sharing Option) for this.

If you do an XF then they all come across as separate attachments to a
single message. Then on the receiving system you can do an IA and
select some or all attachments and use FA, FAM, XFA or XFAM to refile
the attachments as individual files. (X)FAM just cross-files pointers
to the attachments, which means that they stay in the shared message
areas. The original message can be deleted. FA copies the attachments,
but loses any message attributes.

Ana,
Vagn Eisensee last year installed ALL-IN-1 v3.1 on an Alpha cluster (2*8400)
and moved thousands of users from two v2.4 clusters to the new v3.1 system.
He backed up user areas, mail areas, data files, SYSUAF, Rightslist
etc. to the new system, and did data file conversions and things like
that manually or with selfmade scripts and command procedures.
If you know ALL-IN-1 very well this is also a possible way from v2.4 on
VAX to v3.x on Alpha. Vagn might be able to give you some advice if
you contact him when he returns from his Easter vacation.
