Hi,
Yes, I believe you'll need DECnet OSI, as certainly you need to have
installed the OSI Application Kernel (OSAK). You should probably check
the X.500 conference to be 100% sure (FORTY2::X500_SUPPORT).

| As Kevin says there is certainly a dependency on much of DECnet/OSI,
the DAP protocol is layered on it. This is true even if you use TCP/IP
as transport.
Whether you need all of DECnet/OSI, I'm not sure. I don't know how it
is packaged. The X.500 SPD just says:
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
...
For OpenVMS
DECnet/OSI V6.2 for OpenVMS
...

| You also need DECnet in order to manage the DSA.
btw, the X.500 conference is not exactly as Kev suggested - it's FORTY2::X500

2563.4 | What if ALL-IN-1 on different machine? | NQOS01::voyager.lex.dec.com::wav14.pko.dec.com::isler | | Tue Mar 11 1997 21:49 | 7 |
| Thanks,
What about,
If I have ALL-IN-1 on a different system than X.500, do I need DECnet/OSI
on the ALL-IN-1 system? My guess is no, but have to make sure.

2563.5 | Still *some* X.500 locally.... | IOSG::PYE | Graham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's Apprentice | Wed Mar 12 1997 08:06 | 3 |
| Even if you have X.500 installed on a different machine (in fact that's
how IOSG:: is set up) then you still need the X.500 stubs installed
locally. Don't they need Phase V ?

Graham's right, I don't think you're going to be able to ignore OSI !
