2554.0. "Empty Wastebasket executing for a long time" by VAXRIO::63230::abreu () Tue Mar 04 1997 19:40
Hi ,
I have a customer running ALL-IN-1 V3.0A with VMS 5.5-2. When they execute
the housekeeping procedure Empty Wastebasket, after some time, the procedure
continues executing but If I look at the log, I see that it stopped at a
specific user file cabinet and no other message is shown. Here are the last
messages shown today. Right now is 16:32pm and the last messages written in
the log files are shown below.
Drawer: [RVRI]PRINCIPAL is being processed 12:39pm
Drawer: [RVRI]PRINCIPAL emptying wastebasket
I looked at the disk where the docdb file of this user is stored and the
batch process (EW) is not accessing. A new version was created at 12:39pm.
I realized that the batch had some files opened as partition.dat and
oa$daf_e.dat but no user files.
The process is is LEF/COM , looks like a normal execution , direct io and
buffer io is increasing very much.
The customer says that he left the process running during a weekend and that
it didn't end. And he also says that the problem happens always but at
different points, every time with a different user.
Any ideas ?
Thanks .. Marcia

Marcia
