| Reading this note one year after, I don't see any clear strategy for
PSCM, PSC, SRF yet.
>> First PSCM definitely NOT dying. We've just spent the last year

>> to bring to completion. PSC is a totally new product.
As far as I know, PCM did stay by version 1.0 (for Windows 3.x) - no
progress, PSCM 3.0 - no progress, SRF - no progress, so it seems to me
that .4 was definitely right. But these products with unclear (or no at
all) future still are in the catalogs and pricelist, customers buy it
and get product with no upgrade path. What should we say to them ?

Today
=====
1/there is no more funding at all for PSCM engineering group (since July 96)
2/I even do not know if there is still somebody to provide bug fixes
3/the notesconferences that used to be maintained by this group are no more
reachable.
4/While most Polycenter products were sold to Computer Associates,
Polycenter security products were not part of the deal.

I'm surprized to hear that these products are still in the catalog.
I would strongly recommend to get commitments on support before selling them

1551.8 | We should know more by the end of February | KETJE::STAES | Topless = No brains at all | Wed Jan 29 1997 03:06 | 18 |
| Engineering is currently looking for a solution for the Security Family.
I expect an official statement to be made before the end of February.
In the meanwhile I've sold and installed several licenses of PSCM, both
2.3 and 3.0 after checking with product management.
The only real problem I see right now is that two different and
incompatibel products (PSCM 2.3 and 3.0) received the same product name
which leads to confusion and disappearing doc and kits. The 3.0
kits replacing the 2.3 ones on the CD-ROMS.
If people are looking for a (very) simple replacement for PSRF running
both on VAX and Alpha they can contact me. I developed something based
on MAIL and DCL (!) which satisfies one of my customers managing 50
PSCM reports.
Regards,
Nand.
