A major banking customer is attempting to write a millennium compliant application using Datatrieve for testing purposes. According to our web page DTR 7.1 is yellow (ie NOT compliant) but 7.2 will be and is slated for release in Q3. Is this CYQ3 or FYQ3? if CYQ3 is there any chance of getting a pre-release copy to this customer so he can make his deadlines? thanks Simon

RE:.1, see 3009.2. V7.2 is scheduled for shipment in Q4CY97. RE:.0, DTR V7.1 is year 2000 compliant now as long as you use the defaults (4 digit years) when defining records. You can get into trouble if you use the EDIT_STRING clause to define 2 digit years, or if you have existing data files with 2 digit years. In combination with OpenVMS, V7.1 will have a sliding window interpretation for 2 digit year, but this does not solve all problems for DTR. We would like to have complete year 2000 compliance with V7.2, but we might be forced to live with some documented restrictions around 2 digit years. |
