2993.0. "%CDD-E-FSERR and -RMS-F-SYN ?" by UTRTSC::SCHOLLAERT (Think before you shrink) Wed Mar 05 1997 06:55

    Hello,

    Customer runs Datatrieve 7.0 an Alpha.
    After upgrading CDD from 6.1 to 7.0, he gets the following errors AFTER
    the correct outout of a show databases/procedures command from Datatrieve.

    %CDD-E-FSERR, file system error
    -RMS-F-SYN, file specification syntax error

    Looks like some kind of search list ?
    DMU shows no problems.

    How can I troubleshoot this problem ?

    Thanks,

2993.2logical with brackets : CDD-E-FSERRUTRTSC::SCHOLLAERTThink before you shrinkThu Mar 13 1997 07:4436
    Hi again,

    Logged in at customer system.

    Datatrieve 7.0, CDD 7.0.

    Problem occurs when using a logical referencing a
    CDD path-name containing brackets (to specify a password):

    $ DEFINE VOEKA_DIR "CDD$TOP.MEMIC.PROJ.VOEKA_DIR(LEVEL1_MAIN)"

    DTR> SET DICTIONARY VOEKA_DIR
    DTR> show databases
    %CDD-E-FSERR, file system error
    -RMS-F-SYN, file specification syntax error
    DTR>

    Workaround:

    DTR> SET DICTIONARY CDD$TOP.MEMIC.PROJ.VOEKA_DIR(LEVEL1_MAIN)
    DTR> show databases

    Output fine...

    CDO>SET DEFAULT VOEKA_DIR
    All CDO commands works fine.

    Same syntax worked fine with CDD 6.1.

    Is this a Datatrieve or CDD bug ?

    Thanks,
