2114.1 | Dreams - Healing | SOLVIT::BARNUM | | Tue May 07 1996 16:52 | 12 |
| HI
Yes, dreams are powerful healing tools, your guides/angels definitely
work to make lessons for you to learn. For me it's a lot of past issues
getting resolved and absorbed, causing more healing/unity/wholeness.
I think the idea is if you KNOW it's a dream, not much happens. If you
'play' along, playing with the script, more can be accomplished.
Of course, there's also fun to be had!

Hi,
I've had a lucid dream once. I heard about the phenomenon, found a book
about it, and then all of a sudden - whoopee - it happened. Haven't
been able to do it again, regrettably, because it's absolutely great
fun! I can recall in much much detail how it went, what I did, etc.
It's like being a magician, you want something to happen and it
happens.
I've tried to do it again, but I never succeeded. I haven't persisted,
maybe I should. Again - it's absolutely unbelievably fun, and highly
recommended ;-)

I think there's a difference between dreams and fantasies, Bill.

| In my case, I had to do two things: recognize I was dreaming; avoid
the panic which accompanied that realization (and which woke me up)!
I settled on a method of recognizing the dream state by accident,
really. I noticed that a lot of my dreams (at that time, anyway)
involved talking animals :-) so at bedtime I would remind myself that
if any animals start talking to me, I'm *probably* dreaming.
I had a few more talking-animal dreams before it actually occurred to
me in the dream state that I might be dreaming, and that notion woke
me right up (I think the panic is the fear of being "trapped" in the
dream state). So far I haven't been able to stay for long, but my
fear has diminished considerably.
Last night, in fact, I dreamed that I almost bumped into Dad as I
walked into the living room (he died almost 2 years ago). We both
smiled, and I asked him how he is; he said he's fine... I then said,
"You know, normally when I see you, I take it to mean that I'm
dreaming," and we both smiled and continued to talk as if we both
knew that this was no dream. :-) I wish I could remember everything
we said, but at least I remember thanking him for his help lately.
There are times when I just *know* he's around, or when the answer to a
problem is coming from him--perhaps something he told me long ago, but
he's helping me remember it.
Oddly enough, later last night I dreamed I was talking to my late SO,
but I can't remember *anything* about that conversation, or whether I
realized I was dreaming. Shazbaat!

2114.7 | Do I Have Lucid Dreams? | BIS1::BRIGGS | Chicken Tikka Jalfrezzi | Mon Jul 29 1996 08:15 | 14 |
| This is the first time I've been reading this notes conference. What
are Lucid dreams?
I thought it was the dream state I have found myself in when I am dreaming
and I'm not in a deep sleep, eg. after I've been disturbed and trying to go
back to sleep. I've noticed that these types of dreams are 'believeable'.
What I mean by this is when I have a dream in deep sleep, you know when you
wake up it was a dream, however, the type of dream I have just mentioned
leaves me thinking whether the situation actually occurred?
Can anyone shed any light on this?

Denzil,
I know exactly what you mean.
I had a strange dream last night, a tad disturbing actually, and when
I woke up still feeling half asleep, I had to think carefully about
what had happened. Only after 20 - 30 seconds did I realize it was a
dream, and thank God it was!
I too would like to know, is this a Lucid Dream?
I know its not really taking control of the dream but its definatly
different to a dream you remember when you have been up for a while.
