Unfortunately, he failed to predict in his sign that one should
take care of eating at restaurants that don't take precautions in the
preparation and storage of meat! a fatal reaction to samonella
poisoning doesn't say much for the UK health system. It must have
struck him and weakened an already vunerable body.
A reminder to us all to keep the party foods well heated or
    refrigerated!
I read last week that you're at 200x the risk of dying from being
infected with Hepatitis B thru sexual contact than from Aids! There
are 2M people infected with it in the USA, many as silent carriers,
    with no apparent symptoms!
Sorry, didn't mean to darken anyone's day, here endeth the lesson!

Maybe he's been buying sandwiches from Marks and Spencers.

One single restaurant. Why I was reading that recently in the USA they
managed to get salmonella poisoned ice cream distributed over several
    states.

In Douglas Adams book, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, the
hero's boss has read his horoscope which tells him lots of useful
things, but fails completely to tell him that he will be shot in the
chest with both barrels of a shotgun, by an electric monk from another
    world.

You'd think an astrologer as great as Mr Walker, would be able to
predict a bit of trouble though. Or maybe he did .. you cannot cheat
    fate after all  B->

re .3 I agree, and hope that people will joke and laugh when I go,
having spent a lot of my life trying to get them to while I
             was here :-)

re .4 Very patriotic, well said old bean, hurrah and huzzah!
             Remember the Mars bars?

There once was a medium named Walker,
Who ordered a meal of steak tartare,
He got more than asked for: salmonella,
and it weren't from a bowl of Vanilla,

    	He predicts no more horoscopes,
For, from under six feet he mopes,
Clearly, a lesson to all who care!
It's bad luck for a medium to order rare! BillM

    Astrologer Linda Goodman Dies
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Linda Goodman, author of "Sun Signs,"
the book credited with popularizing astrology in the Age of Aquarius,
    is dead at age 70.
Ms. Goodman died Saturday of complications stemming from diabetes,
    Penrose Hospital officials said.
"Linda Goodman's Sun Signs," which examined personality types based on
horoscopes, was published in 1968 and became the first book on
astrology to make The New York Times best-seller list. It has sold more
    than 5 million copies.
She followed up with "Linda Goodman's Love Signs" in 1978, "Star Signs"
in 1988 and "Goobers," a spiritual mystery novel, in 1989.
Mannu, the religion she founded, combined the teachings of St. Francis
of Assisi with American Indian beliefs.
Ms. Goodman is survived by her father and three children.

This is not good, my friends. Might be a good time to give up astrology
methinks, and take up something less dangerous, like skydiving :-)

Insurance companies are going to have a little box on them now, to tick
if you an astrologer, in which case you are high risk and they won't
    insure you.

As I recall reading somewhere, Goodman and Walker were reputed to be
good freinds, but cannot confirm, although it makes sense. Could there
    be a link here?

Save yourselves! It's the Astrologic Plague!
Maybe at the party, along with drumming, we should all sing and
chant ourselves into a frenzy with, "Ring Around The Rosies,etc...
