TITLE: Laughter Is a Good Stretch, Too: Humor, Healing, and Yoga

DESCRIPTION:

     "Humor is not a trick, not jokes. Humor is a presence 
      in the world -- like grace -- and shines on everybody."

 Laughter, like yoga, provides a stretch that is healing, energizing,
 and even transforming. Laughter is aerobic. Norman Cousins, who used 
 laughter to help cure himself from a life-threatening illness, called 
 laughter "inner jogging:" it improves circulation, oxygenates the blood,
 and relieves pain and stress. It helps prevent heart disease, strokes,
 cancer, depression, and other stress-related diseases. "One who 
 laughs, lasts!"
 
 Yet, today humor is getting a bad name.
 Many comedians have made humor synonymous with crassness and obscenity.  
 At the same time, humor is being relegated to comedy clubs and comedy hour. 
 It is rarely welcomed and encouraged in churches, temples, schools, and 
 offices. 
 
 One purpose of this session is to show that wholesome humor has a respectable 
 place in all arenas of life -- even in sacred places...even in one's 
 spiritual practice! The presenter insists that spiritual disciplines need 
 not be solemn. A sense of humor is necessary for the success of any 
 spiritual practice, and it is most needed today to help us get through these 
 troubled times. 

 The presenter, an accomplished yoga instructor and stress management 
 consultant, shows how humor and yoga are compatible sidekicks that offer 
 many similar benefits and that teach (in Garrison Keillor's words) a 
 "presence in the world...that shines on everybody." Both humor and yoga 
 help eliminate mental and physical tension, and they both can inspire and 
 bring people together. 

 Learn the value of humor for your physical and mental health as well 
 as for the health of personal and business relationships. Learn how 
 a good sense of humor can empower us with a change of perspective, with a 
 new way of looking at the absurdities and adversities we face daily.

 Learn the essence of yoga and how to apply it for keeping lighthearted, 
 evenminded, and radiantly healthy. Wear a smile and loose, comfortable 
 clothing. 

THE PRESENTER:

Phil Milgrom is a public speaker, humorist, stress management consultant, and a 
certified yoga instructor and yoga therapist. He has taught yoga for over 
20 years. His Humor, Healing, and Yoga workshop received great 
reviews at Interface (Cambridge, MA) last year and at this year's Unity in 
Yoga International conference in Colorado. Phil is co-director of The 
Centered Place in Warren, MA. He teaches yoga in Littleton at Digital 
Equipment Corporation (LKG and TAY) as well as at the Fitness Workshop
in Littleton.

TITLE: Living, Loving, and Laughing with Stress: The Light Approach to 
       Stress Management

DESCRIPTION:

 This course consists of three consecutive Thursday evenings and
 will include the humor presentation described above plus two evenings
 focusing on other stress management techniques.

 The stress management focus is described below:
 
Our best bet in these stressful times is to learn to manage ourselves 
rather than try to control the stressful events that befall us. We may 
have little control over many world events and things that happen to us 
individually, but we can have control over how we respond to them. The way 
we respond can make us or break us. 
 
Attaining happiness and freedom from stress is an inside job: it requires 
inner effort and self-regulation. This workshop aims to encourage the 
discovery and affirmation of our own inner resources and ability for 
handling crisis as well as day-to-day challenges. 
 
The light approach to stress management gives an honorable place to humor. 
A sense of humor can be a valuable asset to bring balance, especially in 
times when the gravity of life threatens to pull us down. 
Humor helps lower our stress to a level where we can be productive rather 
than destructive. Humor helps heal the heart, body, and mind. 
To demonstrate this, we will laugh often these evenings.
 
A sense of humor is one of many tools that will be introduced for 
managing ourselves. Learn simple ways 
to prevent and handle stress overload, or if it is too late, how to recover 
from it! 
 
	- Centering techniques for gaining composure 
	- Breathing exercises for calming nerves 
	- Stretches for releasing tension 
	- Visualization and meditation for transforming perspective 
	- Play for becoming whole and finding harmony

    	IF you live/work in the Boston mass. area and you are interested in 
    spititualism and mediumistic developement, ther is a place for you.

    specializes in spiitualism and has a christian base. In fact they have
    there own institute for mediumistic and physchic developement.

    every sunday at 11:00 am(although that is suspended through August)

    Rev. Stephen R. Fulton, and Rev. Simeon Stefanidakis both are pastors
    as well as mediums! Rev. Stefanidakis is available for private
    mediumistic sittings on thursdays and fridays of every week. He is an
    excellent evidential medium that is worth the price.(and very
    reasonable at that!!) 
    	In no way is this a fraud or a hoax, both Reverends are highly
    respected in Brookline/Boston area. They have over 40 years experience

    	Just as an added note, In no way is my last note a ploy for financial

    established over a hundred and ten years ago! (For some of you Boston

    is now a book store and was the Exeter st. theatre? Well before it was
    a theatre it was the original First Spiritual Temple!)
