2032.0. "DEJAVU - 10 Years on September 20th, 1995" by TNPUBS::PAINTER (Planet Crayon) Wed Feb 15 1995 14:09

This September 20th, 1995, will be the 10th anniversary of the founding
of the DEJAVU conference (see note 1)...

...and I'm thinking of hosting a gathering of past and present noters
    in honor of the occasion.

I live in Nashua, NH. We can hold the party in my condo, or if the
guest list becomes large enough, we can rent out my condo clubhouse.

September 20th is on a Wednesday, so it may be better to go for either
the weekend before or the weekend after. Or wait a month and have it
the weekend before Halloween (on a Tuesday this year).

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc., most appreciated.

Cindy, if we get enough response, we might consider donations to hire a
hall for a Grand Gathering. This is much like what Womannotes did 3
years ago for it's 5th anniversary. I'm certainly up for this and I'll
help to plan if you wish. Just let me know what to do.

    Bright Blessings,

Having only started to use this conference this year, I'd
love to attend. It would be great if we could get "departed souls" back
for a bash like Topher and Steve Kallis. It was nice learning things
from their many entries, but it would be great to add a face to their
thoughts. Circa Halloween sounds good. The first few weeks after Labor
Day always seem intense. Everyone uptight, setting goals, pushing
issues after the summer doldrums. October, I think, might reap a better
harvest, to wear out an already trite metaphor. BillM

Steve Kallis won't be there, however there's a good chance that Topher
    and family might attend.

Just to get this going again...

In early October, Brian MacKrill, a former DEJAVU participant (circa.
1990-1991), will be up from Australia for a week or two. I thought
this might be a great time to hold the gathering, so I've decided to
have it as an Open House at my place during one of the weekends while
he's here. It would be potluck, BYOB.

If the response is overwhelming, I can rent our condo clubhouse for a
very small fee ($40.00 or so). I live in Nashua, NH.

In the meantime, if you happen to come across former members in the
next few months or so, please have them contact me at: 603-888-8559.

As Eva reminded me offline - life is supposed to be a block party.
    Sooooo.......(;^) Let's Go For It!

    		DEJAVU - 10th ANNIVERSARY PARTY!!!!!!!

    	        Date: Saturday, November 11th, 1995
                Time: 2pm onward
Loc: My place in Nashua, New Hampshire, USA

As Desperado says, "Forward (this invitation) with daring and whimsy."
Especially to all those who have departed our ranks over the last
several years. Hope to see as many of you as possible.

I'll be sending directions offline, so if you plan to attend, please
send mail to me directly and put "DEJAVU Party" in the Subject line,
and as the time approaches, I'll send them on to you. If the number of
Rsvps looks like it will exceed the capacity of my place, then I'll
    look into renting the clubhouse.

Party will be potluck - I will be making eggplant parmesan, salad, and
apple crisp, and will provide such things as cups, plates, plasticware,
napkins, and ice. So please bring a dish to pass (let me know though,
what you're thinking of bringing for coordination purposes), and BYOB,
    but NO alcohol please.

    Looking forward!

However, given the latest one is 12/12, I'm one behind, however 12/12
    isn't possible for me.

Well then...I think we should start the party officially at 11:11am
and go until at least 11:11pm, instead of starting in the afternoon.
So, c'mon over earlier and I'll have the coffee and hot cider on.
I'll get some brown donuts and apples too.

Thanks for pointing that out, Stella.

I must admit to being very tempted to go. Perhaps the fact that I am

people are going to be there? I know the message said to mail direct if
you were planning to go, but maybe a show of interest here might
encourage others. There is another chap here who may well be interested

OK, Cindy. can we bring drums and make noise? If that's not feasable at
your place and it's not to cold, maybe we can go into the woods near
your house, (Where we walked) and drum in a clearing, if folks want to?

Also, on the same day, at Barnes & Noble book store, just down the road
from Cindy's house, Bob Keeshan will be doing a book signing from 2 to
4 PM. For those who may not know who Bob keeshan is, he hosted a
children's show that was on network television for many years for us

PJ - you're reading my mind...or else putting the intentions there!

Given that responses are starting to come in from outside the file, I
was just thinking this morning that my condo may not hold everyone at
the same time, and also it's not conducive for a drumming circle
(neighbors might object (;^)). So I'm going to check into renting the
clubhouse for the drumming purposes. Will let you know.

Drumming in the field is probably OK too...though it will be a bit
    cold.

PJ - I think the clubhouse is fairly inexpensive - almost certainly
less than $50. Thanks for your offer.

Stella - you won't have to dress warm if we get the clubhouse. It has
    central heating. (;^)

Bill - you can be in charge of the Captain Kangaroo Field Trip, since
it appears you're really into it. (;^) Mr.Moose was my favorite.
Will do on the directions. Go to Nashua, turn left, look for
    sacrificial fires...(;^)

Someone has asked about bring tarot decks and such - yes, all that is
fine. The only thing I prefer is not to have Ouija boards, that's all.

Also, if you're involved in external healing pursuits or related
businesses of any kind (astrology, holistic bookstores, etc.), feel free
to bring your information, business cards, product samples if
appropriate, and related things along (short videos OK too). I plan to
have nametag supplies available, and also you can add on your healing
speciality. Maybe some of us can work together in the future, or at
    least provide mutual referrals.

Getting more responses from the outside too!

2032.30The Electronic ShamanBIS54::DYSONWed Oct 18 1995 05:4624

Drumming sounds EXCELLENT, but even if I had a drum I think getting it
over there on the plane could be tricky :-( I had a drum machine, but
I can't imagine electronic shamanism catching on in the near future,
    can you :-)

Some sad news, I'm afraid. I should still be coming to the party, but
it may be the last contact I have with many of you for some time, and
having only just 'met' you all, that makes me rather unhappy. Due to
personal considerations I shall be returning to the UK and leaving
Digital in Brussels. I agreed a final day of 8/11/95 with my manager
yesterday, and the week after the DJV party I shall be back in the UK
looking for a contract! Ultimately I would like to get over the States
for a while, but don't know whether Digital take on English
contractors, or even whether software development and support in my
area of expertise is carried out over there - I presume it must be. I
may take some extra time when I am over there to try and contact and
agencies that might cover that area.

Never despair though, I shall do my best to remain in contact with some
of you by Internet E-Mail. Just a shame I cannot get Internet access to
    Deja-Vu isn't it?

2032.31WMOIS::CONNELLStory does that to us.Wed Oct 18 1995 09:4519
Adam, sorry to hear that you won't be at Digital anymore, but look
forward to meeting you at the party. About drums, there are usually
extras and protocol is that you ask the owners permission to use it.
This is generally granted(I have never seen a refusal) and in fact
sometimes offered. There's a bit of ettiquette around not wearing rings
when you drum and of course treating it as a sacred object, but that's
usually not an issue. I always bring lots of toys (rythym instruments)
to the event. You gotta try the ocean drum, great for trance work.

I may be late, as my son is rowing at his school on that day and I
might get a chance to go see the event. His team one their meet last
weekend and this weekend, he's rowing in the Head of the Charles event.
One of the most pretigious rowing events there is. As you can imagine,
I'm walking around beaming with pride and telling all who will listen
and even those who won't. :-)

    Bright Blessings,

Thanks, Cindy for the directions! I'll be there. Too bad the
bear left! I bet he did a good job guarding those mailboxes!! ;>)!
    (Couldn't resist!)

Dejavuers! your chance to live on in prose form!

I'll be bringing my camera and snapping photos of you and if you
give me your permission I'll incorporate your looks (or how you'd like
to look, your inner self) and some of your personalities and lifestyle
outlooks into a new book that I'll be starting this winter! As I
usually do in my writing, most of the action will take place locally.
It will be a crime drama dealing with a psychic who uses her
abilities to try to find the body of a murdered girl. Her psychic
abilities only brings herself and her husband and their occult friends
under suspicion from the police as suspects. Combining their various
poers of perception and "gifts", and led by the investigative newspaper
reporter that doesn't dispell them as weirdos, they find the girl's
body and the trail of evidence that leads them to the real sadistic
killers of a string of young victims! As usual, with a plot like that,
I'll be adding in a lot of comic moments!
I'll be needing lots of help for real life experiences in seances,
readings, dowsing, etc. so swapping names, addresses, and phone numbers
with anyone who'd like to help in my research would be great!
Suggestions for character names is most welcome! Acknowledgements
will be provided upon publishing, if published!
Right now, I'm still fleshing out and expanding the killer's
personality in my first book, as soon as that gets the approval of my
agent, she thinks she can get a small publishing house that likes to
do series mysteries to take it! So, things are really looking up
    for this effort!

Great! I love events where they actually allow name tags. Can't tell
you how many things I attended where people did not know everyone but
if I mention nametags, its always "no way". The whole world should
wear them for us folks who don't remember names!

Cindy, thanks for the directions again. PJ We have something in
common. My daughter was on the U Mass/Lowell crew team for five years

Pat, cool about your daughter. Don't worry about drumming. One does

drums the first time I was exposed to them. Now I love it whenever I

whenever we get the opportunity. :-)

About name tags, Cindy, didn't you tell me that there would be no names

Wouldn't ascendants be more appropriate for such a social gathering? Or
perhaps we should all keep them a secret, and then at the end of the
evening we could all vote on what we thought everyone else's sign was..

How many folks are you expecting? That way we'll have a better idea of
what quantity of food we should be preparing.

    		DEJAVU - 10th ANNIVERSARY PARTY!!!!!!!

    	        Date: Saturday, November 11th, 1995
Time: 11:11am to 11:11pm (or later)
Loc: My place in Nashua, New Hampshire, USA

As Desperado says, "Forward (this invitation) with daring and whimsy."
Especially to all those who have departed our ranks over the last
several years. Hope to see as many of you as possible.

    Party Directions

I'll send directions offline, so if you plan to attend, please send
mail to me directly and put "DEJAVU Party" in the Subject line, and
I'll send them on to you.

    Party Location and Drumming

The party headquarters will be at my place, and for those of you who
like to drum, the clubhouse will be available. (The cost is $35 for
the day, so a small contribution of a dollar or two from each person
drumming would be most welcome, but not necessary.)

    Party Food and Drink

Party will be potluck - I will be making eggplant parmesan, salad, and
apple crisp, and will provide such things as cups, plates, plasticware,
napkins, and ice. So please bring a dish to pass (let me know though,
what you're thinking of bringing for coordination purposes). Given
the significant number of people who are vegetarian these days (myself
included (;^)), a non-meat dish is preferred. BYOB, but NO alcohol
    please.

    Esoteric Stuff

Things like tarot decks and related items are most welcome, but NO
    Ouija-type boards please.

    Children

Children of all ages are most welcome, however just to let you know
that my house is not sufficiently childproof for the littler ones.

    Allergies

I have 2 cats, if that makes a difference to anyone.

    Healing Networking

If you are in one of the healing arts - including astrology, massage,
Super Blue Green Algae, Herbalife (;^), esoteric bookstores, polarity
therapy, Reiki, and the like - then please do bring your business cards
and information about your offerings for sharing purposes.

    Looking forward!

    Cindy

    Sad news.

Adam (Wolf Man) Dyson from Europe is unable to make the party.
He starts his new job in the UK on Monday and has to work on
the weekend to get a release out the door. He's bummed too and will be
in touch as soon as he gets an Email account. He hopes to visit us
later on in the year. Maybe for New Year's Eve, Wolf Man?

    Hi,

I haven't registered in this notesfile yet, but I read it from time
to time. I find all of this stuff interesting. About the party
what does "BYOB no alchohol" mean? I see that we can bring
children, but are we allowed to invite a few of our friends, who
are also very interesed in these things? Makes it easier, especially
when you don't really know anybody there.

    Thanks............Maryann

Where 'Bottle' something to drink other than alcohol (soda, bottled
    water, etc).

Children are fine, and a significant other is fine too, however
I'd prefer you not to bring friends unless I know them, since it
    is my home.

so who is going to the party tomorrow?
what time will you be there?
    what are you bringing?

I plan to get there early afternoon. I'm bringing
    pasta/chicken/spinach casserole.

I'm not sure of what exact time. Depends on how the morning goes and
what errands I have to run. I'm bringing loaves of sweet breads.
    (Pumpkin, blueberry, and raspberry).

    Bright Blessings,

By the time the sun descends the forest rooftops, this pagan lad
and his merry lass will greet your harvest threshold. We'll be
bringing a pie made of the forbidden knowledge fruit, cleverly
sneaked out of the Garden with the aid of our reptilian familiar.
Off now, to cut a fresh willow bough!

Thank you Cindy for sharing your home with us. A nice time and nice
people. I wish that I could have stayed longer. Linda did love the
Captain's books, so that was a pleasure also.

Again, thank you so much, Cindy.

Cindy! ditto what PJ said! you are a grand hostess.

I enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing the old-timers so much. It was
    a great get-together.

You're quite welcome! I really enjoyed having everyone over - my place
has some very nice vibes in it now. (;^) I couldn't help but deviate
from my diet somewhat to sample the cider, apple pies, sweetbreads, and
other desserts later on (shh...)...all of which were most appreciated!
The party ended around 11:11pm with a short drumming session in my living
    room.

The kitties lapped up all of your attention and compliments. (;^)

Same time next year...I'm hoping to have an annual DEJAVU gathering as
close to the 11/11 date as possible...probably the weekend after that,
so if you leave the company, please keep in touch.

Thank you from this corner also, Cindy. You did a lot of work cooking
in the kitchen all day and I know everyone appreciated it! Sorry I
missed the drumming. I did think of it on the way home and also
wondered if Bill took any pictures for his book. I didn't remember him
takiny any while I was there.

Good company, good food and nice cats!

belated, dittos Cindy! You were a great hostess! We had a nice
time and I enjoyed putting faces to names. I mentally took pictures,
Stella! When we left, I followed backroads all the way to Route 113
in Dunstable. I just went the way that "felt" right. remarkably,
we came out right in Dunstable center. How appropiate, for a Deja
Vu after party commute! Just don't ask me to find the way again! BillM

That's great, Bill - I'm so glad you and your wife could attend! It
was really nice to meet you both, and to finally see you in person for
the first time. (;^) Was it still light out when you took the backroads
    - that's a *really* pretty drive through there. If not, you'll just have
to do it again sometime. (;^) Btw, you're still awfully tall, y'know.
