2024.0. "The Celestine Prophecy" by RANGER::MAYNARD () Mon Jan 16 1995 09:29

This is a book much like Carlos Castaneda's Don Juan books in that it
works on 2 levels; as a novel and as a springboard for metaphysical
    questions and answers.
The novel portion has to do with a lost manuscript and one man's
search for this document. The manuscript contains Insights which
explain why the world has become such a restless place as we approach
    the second millenium.
The underlying portion of this book depends on your personal beliefs
    and personal history.
    It staggered me...
    Please read it...
                     Jim

2024.2I enjoyed it !APACHE::TAYLORWed Jan 18 1995 12:198
    Great book !
I felt that the insights provided an explanation as to why we interact
from a socialogical perspective as we do. It also described how certain
events impact our lives , allowing us to fulfill our own destiny.
The book itself was written in a format that differs vastly from most
books of this nature in that it was an adventure story with a message.

I liked the book as well, and I feel that it is very benefitial to all
    that read it.

What I was wondering was how much of it (if any) really happened?

This question has been posed to me before. From what I understand,
the manuscripts do exist. As for the overall story itself, I'm not
sure as to whether it's fictional or not.
Does anyone know how this book is categorized ?
I find it intriguing that this book has been on the NY Times bestseller's
list for sometime now. Years ago, I'd read prophecies by the plaeidians
that we as humans would be evolving spiritually as a culture and with the
apparent response of this book , it looks as if the prophecy is coming
    true !

Does anyone know of any discussion groups for the Celestine Prophecy
in the Southern N.H or Northern Mass. area ?

I would be interested in starting one if I can't find one.

The Sacred Garden on Rt.101A might have one going, or they might know
of one. Don't have their number handy at the moment.

I did see an offering for a workshop at Interface, Cambridge, MA, on
this topic as well...not sure what the dates were though (may have
already taken place). However, they may also know of an ongoing
discussion group. Their number is: 617-876-4600.

    For those who are interested...

The August 1994 issue of "New Age Journal" has an interview with the
author. I haven't finished the article and I haven't read the book but
I thought I'd post it here...

There's also a new book out, just released this month. The title is something
like 'A Companion Guide to the Celestine Prophecy'. It's designed to be either
a self study or group study of the insights. One chapter per insight.

And sometime this yar a sequel is due out on the Tenth Insight.
