| There is always hope Frances. This seems to have been a fairly accurate
reading thus far. I would say, though, that free will stilll exists and
hope is only an expression of desired possibilities, not certainties.
Take care of you.
I'm sorry to hear things are not going well for you and hope thay get better
soon.

Echoing what Jim wrote, and also a reading recommendation immediately
came to mind to give to you:
"A Woman's Worth", by Marianne Williamson
It's not related to tarot at all, but is a fantastic book on everything
including relationships. It should be on the shelf at any bookstore so
you can flip through it to decide.
Regarding the tarot reading, there may indeed be someone who comes
along very soon that fits many (but not all) of the items that your
tarot reading mentioned. Life can be really strange, and very good,
at that! For example, recently I actually met someone that was born
on *the same day and year* as my ex-husband! Looks like him too.
Though fortunately he's infinitely more wonderful. (;^) So you just
never know.
Take care of yourself, and treat yourself well, especially now. I've
been there too.

| Hi..
I would suggest that (as previously said by others) that there
are no sure things. Free will, etc. have a major play
in life.
Sometimes I find that 'psychic' or metaphysical readings
can color a person's actions. Maybe (it's a stretch), but try this
scenario on.. knowing what you thought was 'truth' stated by the
interpretation of the Tarot may have influenced your expectations
and actions in your relationship with your mate?
The reading does seem to have validity for you, but to repeat,
there are many forces and changes occuring all the time, some
within your personal sphere, and some outside your ability
to influence and control.
If you can, listen to your 'felt sense' or gut or intuition,
soul, whatever you want to call it, and act on that, not on
anyone's (including myself ;-)) say so, be it from a 'divine'
source, etc.. if it is channeled through any human interpreter,
it is 'flawed'.. so do what feels right. Follow your own
path and heart..
sorry - didn't mean to soapbox.. ;-)
Peace!

that tarot readings are totally worthless.

1908.5 | taking an active role in a vision ... | DWOVAX::STARK | Fa la la la la | Tue Dec 21 1993 10:30 | 13 |
| A reading is whatever you make of it, in my opinion. Just like
any other advice. Even bad advice can help you see what you're
doing wrong, if you apply _your_own_resources_ to the interpretation
as well. Think of it as 'seeds' of the future perhaps, rather than
predicting the future. Make it mean something else. Use your own
strength to mold it and tailor it.
And always get a second opinion from a witch doctor if one is
available. ;*) Sorry, couldn't resist ...
kind regards,

| re: .6,
By strength, I meant the inner quality needed to make the difficult
transition from being _receptive_to_discovery_ (which is the frame of
mind a person is generally in when they are accepting a reading); to being
active in seizing the day and reinterpreting the reading, adding
more of their personal understanding. Giving themselves some
credit for the ability to visuallize and mold their future.
By making this kind of a shift, we can often
see nuances in a situation that were not obvious before. That's
part of what a really successful reading or counseling session will
do, (I think), in addition to providing information, or seeming
to provide information, it will change the way someone views the
conditions of their life, opening up new possibilities. Rather
than just closing off possibilities.
What I'm calling 'strength,' is probably similar to what
others have called 'free will,' but I guess I put a little more
macho :-) slant on the elusive quality. It's kind of like
self-determination in my mind, rather than simple choice.
I guess you can probably also tell that my own preference
is to value more highly someone's own reading of their
situation, rather than that of a professional psychic,
especially when they start to become dependent on the
readings or view them as somehow limiting their options.
No matter how accurate or uncanny predictions may have seemed, we
virtually always have the power to influence our outcomes.
Sometimes we don't *want* to exercise that power, for whatever
reason, but that's another matter.
joyous holiday,
kind regards,
todd

1908.10 | Interpetation | USCTR1::GCOOK | | Thu Jun 09 1994 15:23 | 25 |
| Hi Frances,
I think the Tarot helps put into perspective the multitude of
influences going on within (without) our lives at any particular
moment, usually concering one question. It is very easy for us to lose
our way, amidst confusing emotions, our own as well as our Significant
Other's.
I think the Tarot lays out for us the energy levels in various aspects
of our lives:
Current conditions
Past
Recent Past
Future Trends
Specific Future
and influence of our own emotions, and those of our close relations.
Often the Seeker wants to fit a "Square" reading into their preferred
"round" hopes. Sometimes those hopes are limited to what we know. We
always have the option of how to interpet the reading.
For example (very simplistic, I know), the seeker wants to know if they
will succeed in purchasing a 1975 Dodge. The cards come back and imply
that "No, there's no Dodge in your future". Well, all that might mean
is that you'll end up with a Mercedes Benz 500 SL. Life's
possibilities are unlimited.
