1902.0. "Dream Help!" by GRANMA::SHOFMANN () Mon Nov 22 1993 13:02

I wasn't sure where to enter this note for some advice. My daughter
and I had the strangest dream experience the other night. I actually
was dreaming about a single bumble bee that I was trying desparately
to catch in a jar - I'm not sure why or where but so be it. Anyway,
my daughter (2 1/2 years old) woke up about an hour after me and called
my name. I went into her room to comfort her and she told me that the
bumble bee was buzzing in her ear! I sorta freaked and tried to
figure out the significance or interpretation of this. I brought
her into my room and put her in bed with me and just tried to pass it
    off as another 'wierd' moment.

Days later, I'm still curious to know if this holds any significance of
any kind. I used to have a book that told meanings of various
objects/animals in dreams. Can anyone help? Does this some familiar
    to any noters in Dejavu?

    Thanks,

1902.1Some initial thoughts ...DWOVAX::STARKDon't postpone joy.Mon Nov 22 1993 16:0229
Just off hand I can think of three interesting and
    possibly overlapping options :

    1. A common audible sound or vibration sensed by both of you
triggered the sensation of buzzing, which you both translated
as hearing a bumblebee, you translating it as part of your dream
content, and your daughter perhaps awoke and still heard it.
Outside sensory experience often becomes incorporated into
    	dream content.

    2. A common concern to both of you involving bees
from a shared or similar experience.

    3. A telepathic communication. Perhaps she heard a buzzing from
somewhere and became afraid and you experienced that concern as part
of your dream. Apparent telepathic contact frequently seems to involve
a call for help, especially involving parent and child.

    (4. You have flying insects (gnats, etc.) in your house ??)

How acoustically isolated are your bedrooms ?

Have you ever had remarkably shared dream imagery before ?

Any recent shared experiences that might provide a clue ?

    						kind regards,

I had somewhat similiar experience once with my daughter who was 5 at
    the time......

I was reading Whitley Striebly's (or something close to that ;)
"Communion" and was at the part of the story where his little boy is
telling him (author/father) how he was taken aboard the ship and could
see the roof of his house, ect. I also remember that theway the book
was describing the sleep while being abducted frightened me because
I've had those kinds of deep sleeps. Anyways my daughter woke up the
next morning shook up over a nightmare she had about coming home from
next door and the house was up in the sky with 'strange people looking
down at me' AND she described them exactly as the aliens were decribed
    in the book.

There has also been a few times her and I had the same dreams. And
I woke up more than once to hearing her and her dad talking to each
other while they sleeping and in different rooms.

So I'm not sure what all of this means but I know when they do
happen it's a pretty freaky feeling.
