    Hi Carlos,
    
    I had read in a few different places that July 26th would be a very
    significant day, but I had not heard it compared to the harmonic
    convergence.  If Mayan timekeeper, Hunzbatz Men talks about this at the
    workshop I'm attending in August, I'll report it here.

To note, July 26th is the beginning of the Mayan year.

July 26th, 1992 as I understand the Mayan calendar is the beginning of the last
20 years that the Mayan calendar is a record of. It is definite global/galactic
consequences. I highly recommend referencing The Mayan Factor by Jose Arguelles
(which I have read three times). It is a very technical book, but can give you
a good picture (IMHO) of what the Mayan calendar is all about and why we are
here.

In any event, to say that last July 26th was the 2nd Harmonic Convergence is
incorrect. There was only one and that was in 1987. The celebrations this past
July were for to keep the spiritual circles going towards planetary consciousness
which is also explained in the book. Also, this is just the tip of the iceburg.
I suppose so many other things are telling us that major changes are going to
happen, and the end of the Mayan calendar is just another one to confirm this.

If you would like more information, I will be happy to oblige what I know.

    To add a little to what you have written, this text comes from a
    newsletter I received from Green Patures Estate (a spiritual
    community):
    
    "Jose Arguelles [of Harmonic Convergence fame from 1987] predicts the
    next major cosmic/solar history will be this summer on July 26 when the
    earth enters a new time dimension.  He is calling this date "Time
    Shift."  There will likely be many grass-roots happenings of large and
    small order springing up around New England (and the world) to honor
    and mark this planetary/evolutionary milestone which in some measure
    has been derived from his study of Mayan cosmic calendars."
    
    Since he is associated with Hunbatz Men, it will be interesting to hear
    what Hunbatz has to say this weekend regarding this recent event.

    There was a cover article in the Tucson (AZ) Weekly about the 2nd Mayan
    Harmonic Convergence in Sedona.  It covered some of the main personages
    involved, a fairly straight article with no sneering.  Unfortunately
    some of the quotes from these personages were either selected for
    content or the folks are as lame as they sound.
    
    They make Deadheads look grounded and productive by comparison.

    The papers are probably saying that it was a 2nd Mayan Harmonic
    Convergence, however, to be more specific, as I understand that Mayan
    calendar as translated by Jose Arguelles, this past July 26th was the
    end of the five year period that the Harmonic Convergence on August
    17th, 1987 (I believe that date is correct) signalled the beginning of
    the collapse of the social structure as we know it (among other
    things). I still say (if I understand The Mayan Factor properly) there
    really was only one Harmonic Convergence, and that was back in 1987.

    Deadheads are grounded and productive.  Who do you think will hold
    the disintegrating social structure together? :-)

    A few of us from this conference went to see Humbatz Men this weekend
    up in Epping, NH.  He was fabulous!  I was only going to go to the
    Friday night lecture only, however he was so good that I couldn't miss
    his Saturday workshop.
    
    I'm short of time right now...hopefully someone else who attended will
    enter a trip report.  I took about 15-20 pages worth of notes.

    I also had the opportunity to attend the workshop with Cindy and a few
    other friends with Hunbatz Men.  Though I do not have the time to share
    many details at the moment, I'd like to say he impressed me as a man 
    with great integrity.

    I attended as well.  I liked him a lot - he had such strong powerful
    energy.  I don't have time right now to type in my notes (most of them
    are symbols anyway).  He did lead a healing session.  Cindy and I both
    volunteered to go up on stage.  It was a very interesting positive
    spiritual experience for me, but I find it hard to describe in words. 
    Even though the workshop was all day, it flew by quickly.

The Biblical passages mentioned have often been compared to the effects of
(a) a nuclear explosion or several - the brightening bits... and
(b) the upblast of dust and matter into the atmosphere, blanketing the heavens,
    i.e. the darkening/stars disappearing bits.

    I saw the other attendees of the Hunbatz Men workshop yesterday (they
    attended a surprise bridal shower given to me by my daughter) and what
    we touched on was that we all are still processing what happened to
    us at the workshop.  It is like whatever we experienced (which we seem
    to be having difficulty defining) is being processed on another
    (subconscious?) level.  Subtle but powerful impact.
    
    With people being tapped around me, it is difficult to find the time to
    do a write-up, but I promise to try as time permits.

    Galactic Synchronization -- Synchronization with the Beyond
         To speak of galactic synchronization, synchronization with the
    beyond, is to surpass all fantasy and all of our wildest dreams. ETs,
    UFOs, the "space brothers" -- these are not alien entities, but
    emanations of *being* itself. And being is, in essence, light, radiant
    energy. From light we come  and to light we shall return. During the
    time that we have spun our historical tale, we have been participating
    in the unfoldment of a larger being. But by the very nature of the
    phase of the 5,125-year/5,200-tun galactic synchronization beam in
    which we have been involved, we have lost sight of this fact.
         Spun through the increasingly accelerated phases of the thirteen
    cycles of this beam, our planet has arrived at an advanced stage of
    conscious synchronization of component elements. This has been brought
    about by the most complex forms of DNA, inducing an artificial leap --
    the sprawl of civilization -- which in actuality has had but one goal
    -- the quickening and transformation of matter. This is the critical
    significance of the thirteenth cycle, Baktun 12, A.D. 1618-2012.
         Once this critical transformation of matter was attained on July
    16th, 1945, two basic processes were set in motion. One involved the
    materialist aggrandizement of power represented by the entrenchment of
    the prevalent global industrial-social order; the other involved the
    dissonant quickening of the resonant field of the planet resulting in a
    wide spectrum of effects from UFO sightings and increased psychism to
    tectonic plate shifts and terrorism.
         The reason for the intense subjective effects experienced by the
    human psyche lies in the overall impact of radioactivity and
    electromagnetic pollution on the infrastructure of DNA, causing
    increased randomness and entropy of behavior. But this response of DNA
    experienced as socially disruptive behavior in the human realm,
    inclusive of rises in the incidence of cancer and new diseases like
    AIDS, is actually only a complement of what is occurring in the larger
    host organism, Earth.
         The resonant body of Earth, the vibratory infrastructure that
    literally holds together the sense-perceptible body of Earth, is in a
    condition of intense "fever" called resonant dissonance. Remembering
    that the planets function as gyroscopes holding the frequency pattern
    of their particular orbits, we see that environmentally impactful
    events since 1945 have actually set in motion a dissonant vibratory
    wave affecting the overall spin of the planet. If the dissonance is not
    checked, then, similar to an uncontrolled nuclear reaction, the
    end-result would be the development of a wobble in the spin and a
    consequent shattering of the planetary form. The Earth could be broken
    up into smaller bodies not unlike the Asteroid Belt.
         In order to accomodate the increased dissonance of frequency, wave
    adjustments are set off at the crystal core of the Earth until a new
    harmonic resonance of slightly higher frequency is attained, this
    accomodating the dissonance and stabilizing at a new level of
    resonance. If this new level of resonance can be attained before
    further destructive impacts are inflicted upon the planetary field --
    whether as increased carbon dioxide or further nuclear testing -- then
    the planet will have successully charted the 5,200-tun synchronization
    beam.
         As can be seen, the acceleration of DNA through this beam is
    played out to the very last possible moment before a critical
    synchronization occurs. This synchronization, taking place at the peak
    of maximum acceleration and dissonant entropy, requires the interface
    of the infrastructure of DNA with the vibratory accommodations
    occurring through the self-organizing and self-healing processes of the
    Earth as a whole field.
         To talk about the interface of the infrastructure of DNA with the
    vibratory accommodations of the Earth is to evoke the purified
    spiritual intentions of a synchronized collective of human beings who
    unedstand that their responsibility to the planet is taking precedence
    over all other allegiances and concerns at this particular time. Such
    an evocation is in the nature of a planetary mystery, a rite of passage
    that synergizes hitherto scarcely suspected force-fields into radiant
    manifestation. This is what is meant by "harmonic convergence"
    occurring at 1863022 and 1863023, August 16-17, 1987. Through such an
    event, the Armageddon script is short-circuited, yet the possibility of
    a New Heaven and New Earth is fully present.
         It must be kept in mind that from the perspective of the Mayan
    Factor, the acceleration of activity climaxing in the thirteenth cycle,
    Baktun 12, is but a phase in the larger playing out of the galactic
    resonant field. The 64-code-word field of DNA -- the factor that is
    quickened and synchronized during passge through the 5,200-tun
    synchronization beam -- is but the central parcel in a resonant plot of
    frequencies whose code form is 260 units. At this point in our
    densification into matter, not only have we lost sight of the total DNA
    field of which we are operants, but even more have we forgotten the
    larger matrix, the galactic harmonic module which completely enfolds
    us.
         To understand even better the cathartic moment that now engulfs
    out entire being upon this planet, let us turn to a consideration of
    technology and transformation. For if it is the purpose of the Mayan
    Factor to lead us to the path beyond technology, it is also its purpose
    to transit us through the eye of the hurricane, the transformation of
    matter which technology has induced. To pass through the eye of the
    hurricane is to engage the counter-spin transcending history, the
    return ride on the Zuvuya of timelessness whose harmonic waves
    concentrically radiate from beginninglessness to endlessness -- the

    He didn't really cover much from that perspective.  The workshop he
    gave was more from personal perspective than anything else...although 
    the connection to cleansing one's energy body using mantras and 
    meditation, and the overall effect of what is talked about in .-1 was 
    clearly made.  Beyond that, my notes aren't here...perhaps someone else
    can add some more. 
    
    I just picked up Steve McFadden's book "Profiles In Wisdom", and the
    last chapter is actually on Hunbatz Men.  In that chapter he talks a
    little more about these things.

Thanks for entering that Marcos, I happen to like Jung very much and agree with
many of his perspectives. His eloquence and articulation on the subject of the
human psyche I do not think has been paralleled.

It is an important distinction in this case I think that Jung does not actually
discount the UFO phenomenon as actually being caused by other-beings-from-
another-planet (as an expression so to speak), but provides a very valid
disertation on how and why these phenomena/experiences could actually be
created by our own psychic desires for ultimate archetypes. I believe Whitley
Strieber in Communion asks this question to, although certainly in no comparison
to Jung's vital elaboration on the subject.

If you have not read Jung, then you probably will not readily see that he in
fact is not saying that EVERYTHING about UFO's etc. is a psychic manifestation
of our highest hopes in response to our criticality of being (that is, the
critical state that everything is, or appears, to be in, that we are
experiencing), but he is making an intellectual attempt at providing a valid
explanation in terms of our evolution of consciousness (as I understand him)
which I think has at least as much validity as any other explanation I have
ever seen. He does not definitively state that EVERYTHING one experiences can
be attributed to the phenomena. However, Marcos' explanation, with quotes from
Jung, basically lets Jung speak for himself and was excellently put.

If you haven't read Jung, a basic understanding of psychology, in my opinion,
requires Jung as a must-read, and also I will add this for anyone studying
mythology, comparative religion, or mysticism.

    While at the lecture given by Hunbatz Men a few weeks ago, the Mayan 
    shaman from the Yucatan, he said that they refer to God as Hunab K'u.
    
    Someone asked about the meaning of the crystal skulls that have been
    found, and without going into a lot of detail, he said that they
    contain the knowledge of about 100 billion years worth of information
    (history, etc.).
    
    At Chichen Itza on the equanoxes, there appears a shadow that ascends
    up the side of the pyramid at a certain time during those days. 
    Apparently Hunbatz, or someone who knows the Mayan tradition, told a
    woman in Canada who has one of the skulls, that she should take it to
    Chichen Itza during an equanox, because there is a place for it at the
    temple, and the shadow (in the form of a snake) represents the kundalini 
    energy which ascends to the skull and activates the memory.  The word 
    'kundalini', a Sanskrit word, has an equivalent name in Mayan, and is 
    very similar.  However I don't have the explanation with me today.

    Once upon a time, according to Hunbatz, we had an 8th chakra inside of
    our skulls, but then we became separate.  Now we are evolving back to
    the state we were once in.

Yes, I agree with you that a "synchronized collective of human beings" can
indeed act upon the basic layer of consciousness accomodating, or shall I
paraphrase to communing, with the Earth. I believe that this is being done when
people gather to recognize, connect with, and personify the archetypes which
are symbols for this Earth consciousness. This is also the case why I have chosen
the spiritual and religious beliefs that I have (being a Neopagan Druid).

It is within these archetypes that Jung explains in Man And His Symbols that
trigger the non-physical or psychic energies which I equate with the metaphysical
aspects of experience and being, and that are so important for the synchronized
communing to happen. This again has its link to The Mayan Calendar as you have
extrapolated from their comparison.

In regards to the UFO question, both Jung and Arg�elles appear to agree, at least
to the point that these can be explained as aspects of being, indemic to the
level of crisis that we are experiencing. The circular archetype, or Mandala
as you pointed out in the Sanskrit, I believe is also of great significance when
looking at the relationship with the communion with the Earth, and of the
physical structure of the Earth itself, not to mention how prevalant it is
throughout the Universe in terms of how they are physically manifest.

It is to say that during ceremonies where circles are cast, or circles of people
are present, on the physical and spiritual levels, and are performing a
collection (building) and direction of energies, this type of spiritual circular
connection, or communion with the spirit of the Earth is taking place. In terms
of my religion, this is what makes it a sacred space. This is not to say that
other religions or spiritual paths do not share similar phenomena (or shall we
say empowerment?) in a way that is healing to the Earth and ourselves, but that
I can only attempt to explain this in the context of my experience and spiritual
path.

To ask the question that UFO's are a cry for help is a good one, and I think is
a valid observation that basically Jung and Arg�elles are at least alluding to
this (I do not understand where this Hatonn person is coming from so I will not
comment on that). It is important to make clear however, that they both recognize
the importance of the audience understanding that this is an attempt at an
explanation, and not to be taken as gospel. The cry for help here meaning that
the Earth itself is annunciating this which is manifesting itself in this way.
To take this position (and I am not taking this position in particular, just
examining it for the moment), it would seem one would be required to be of the
opinion that any possibility of UFO's being extra-terrestrial or not of this
Earth would be invalid, and that we are an integral part of the Earth, having
no aspirations towards being descendents of space-people or having been "spawned"
from another star system, so to speak.

One other note about the Mayan Factor while I still have time. It is also
important to recognize how the synchronization of the consciousness of the
planet is directly connected to the level of crisis that is also occurring.
To clarify, Arg�elles describes the "path" of the Earth toward this psychic
syncrhonization as occuring in a spiral and having the requirement of higher
dissonances so that the frequency can be built to the level of plantery
consciousness. That is to say that planetary consciousness/synchronization with
Hunab Ku, cannot be obtained without the existence and persistance of the
dissonances occuring, as every frequency manifested for the purposes of causing
a harmonic resonance bring it that much closer to planetary consciousness and
Galactic synchronization. Arg�elles also makes the observation that this same
spiral pattern is evident in every living thing as the structure of the double
helix in DNA.

    Update on this note...back in 1992, a few of us from this file went to
    see Mayan holy man/shaman Hunbatz Men, who spoke at Green Pastures in
    Epping, NH.
    
    At the Hindu conference I worked on last year, we had invited Hunbatz
    to speak, and he did so.  At that time, he met the Dalai Lama's
    representative, Ven. Doboom Tulku, and while onstage Hunbatz presented
    him with a wall hanging containing a Mayan prophecy that when humanity
    was to make its next leap, a brother from a faraway land wearing colors
    of the sun would come to the Yucatan.
    
    It's happening...in March 1995, the Dalai Lama will be at the solar
    equanox at Chichen-Itza and will be presenting there.  There is a tour
    being arranged through Hunbatz Men's organization which I just received
    information on, another tour through Steve McFadden's organization
    called "The Wisdom Conservancy" that I do not yet have information on
    (this may actually be the same as Hunbatz's tour - still to contact
    them on this), or if you can get to Chichen-Itza on your own for that
    day, then you will be able to hear the Dalai Lama's presentation.
    
    If you're more-or-less seriously interested in going down there on the 
    tour, contact me offline for further details.  The approximate price
    for the one week tour including Chichen-Itza is around $1500.00 for a
    double room, and there is an add-on for Palenque that is around $750.00
    for a double.  These prices include accommodations and some meals along
    with admission to all sites/events, and most tips.  They do *not*
