    Well, then - can somebody tell me where Danvers, MA is?  I'm going to
    be there 3/1-6 (I think; it won't be confirmed till 2/10) but so far

    Danvers is just North of Boston on the coast.  Not to far from
    where I am.  Keep us posted and we'll plan a get together when

    Ginny, I spent a week in Danver's one night. :-) Removing the power
    train on a rambler. (Note I said Rambler. Not AMC) Sealed drive shaft
    and had to remove whole power train to get to freeze plug between
    engine and transmission.
    
    Danver's is located off Rte. 128/95 just outside of Boston. About 10-12
    miles. It's also minutes away from Peabody and Salem (Infamous Witch
    Trials and Executions). Nice town. Hope to see you when you come up.

    Was actually looking forward to seeing you again this year.
    Thought that maybe your visits were going to be a regular yearly 
    event.  Will have to figure out something other than an
    earthquake to attract you here I guess.  Won't be the same this
    summer.

    On my way home last night I realized the note I put in about 
    Danvers was really poor.  Wasn't even sure if Danvers had a shore
    line.  Thanks for writing what you did.  Much more interesting.
    
    Also, Ginny, I'm working in Burlington, MA  just off Route 128

    Actually, the "Infamous Witch Trials and Executions" occured in
    
    			Danvers
    
    which used to be named Salem Village.  The town never prospered under
    that name, and it was changed to Danvers in the 1920's.

    Ann, I knew that and even considered mentioning it. I just didn't want
    to confuse the issue with facts. :-) thanks for posting it, though.
    
    It's funny, and this is taking the string down a Rathole, but I never
    minded being in Danver's. However, I just feel creepy and I guess "bad
    vibes" and such come over me whenever I'm in downtown Salem. Maybe it's
    in how they have commercialized on what has to be one of the most
    horrendous periods in our nation's herstory, and we weren't even a
    nation then. i don't know. I just get a feeling of pure evil permeating
    the air when I'm there. Portsmouth NH does it to me too. 
    
    Understand, that it's just the downtown areas and not just crossing the
    lines into these towns. It's a shame too, because these cities have
    done a lot of rejuvenation work on their downtowns and I like to shop
    as much as the next person, even moreso then most men. (He said
    stereotypically). Anyway, Salem, I stay away from when I can help it.

    Ginny Ferguson is going to be here the first week in March.
    The tentative schedule Ginny has shows that she's free on
    Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights.  
    
    I'd like to know what nights are best for you and would 
    like to get some restaurant suggestions (please suggest
    restaurants close to major roads so they're easy to find).

    What would be the most central location?  I assume people are coming
    from New Hampshire, the North Shore, Boston area, and western suburbs.
    
    Therefore, I propose a meeting place near Rt. 495 between Lowell and
    Andover.  If someone's house is available for a non-smoking potluck,
    wouldn't that be the best?  Otherwise, we'd need a restaurant where we
    can sit and talk, which offers vegetarian entrees.  I assume we will
    have vegetarians among us.  There are several Chinese restaurants that
    fit the bill, aren't there?
    
    We need an estimate of how many plan to attend.

    Still waiting to hear from those wishing to attend.  I've 
    received notes from others requesting different days.  I'd 
    like to hear from everyone and know what your preference is
    so a prefered date can be scheduled soon.
    
    I'd also like to hear about restaurants you recommend.  Even
    if you can't make this dinner but know of an establishment
    you think we might like, please let me know.  It's best to 
    have a place that has a buffet or dinners and can seat up to
    20 people and easy to get to (off a major highway).  It should
    also have a bar and serve items for the vegetarians. Should also
    be reasonable (average bill for our outtings has been a bit under
    $20 per person.

    Have had several suggestions for restaurants but one
    keeps coming up as a good place to go.  It's called
    the Athenian Corner and is in Lowell.   I have made
    reservations for Wednesday, March 4th.  Will get 
    directions to everyone before next Wednesday.
    
    Other restaurants were suggested, but few were 
    recommended.  I was looking for a Chinese, Indian, or
    Thai restaurant in the Route 495/Route 3 area and 
    only got 1 recommendation for a Chinese restaurant
    besides the Athenian Corner.

Directions to Athenian Corner are as follows:

      Route 495 to the Lowell Connector.  Take the Thorndike 
      Street exit off the Connector (you can only go one way).  
      Follow the Lowell National and State Park signs to the 
      Visitor Center's Parking sign (it says take a Right - 
      don't take the right into the Visitor Center's Parking 
      lot) take the next Right onto Market street.  The 
      Athenian Corner has a parking lot across from the front 
      enterance to the visitor's center.

    It was a good gathering.  Lots of new faces and some
    familiar ones.  It was a getting to know each other
    time.  
    
    The restaurant wasn't bad, but it's really not a 
    place for large gatherings.  Service slow, but then
    the food was cooked to order (in many cases).  I'm
    glad I went.  Enjoyed meeting everyone and missed
    you and those who couldn't make it.  Next time.

    Any one have plans on visiting Massachusetts/New Hampshire or
    New England in the near future?  I still have Roger's August
    vacation marked down (Roger, keep me posted) but wonder if 
    anyone is going to be here sooner.
    
    I'll wait for a bit to see what's happening with visitors and
    then schedule a dinner around a visit or during July.  It's 
    time we had another gathering.
