| Fred:
I did get a chance to watch Les, last night, on our PBS station in Los
Angeles. Les was entertaining and inspirational. I don't know how you
could remain a victim after listening to him. I did not hear enough of
his program (was this a sampler?) to get a notion of the specific,
behavior modification or techniques he uses to get people to change
their behavior. The example of his own life might be enought to get
some started, though.

| re: .2 (Ric-hard/ric-soft)
Hi, Richard! A woman friend of man watched him after I
suggested it and her comments were that she couldn't say she
cared for the boasting about the manipulations he had managed
to direct (getting to become a disk-jockey, e.g.) but that she
enjoyed his enthusiasm and positivism. What I liked, putting the
manipulations aside (we all make mistakes, after all) is that
he was able to overcome adversity and has no room for self-pity,
etc. Moreover, his techniques sound quite metaphysical to me.
As for programs, etc., I am unaware of any.
He had a quote that I liked...enough to write it down:
"If there's no enemy within, the enemy outside can do us no harm."

1517.4 | did I miss something? | CARTUN::MISTOVICH | | Fri Aug 30 1991 10:14 | 11 |
| Hi Frederick,
Les was on east coast channel 2 the other night. I enjoyed large parts
of what he had to say. I'm not sure where the manipulation was in his
getting to be a DJ. Showing up every day and asking for a job was
great! I don't believe he caused the other DJ to get drunk that day.
The only thing he actively did was not be a good boy, follow orders and
find another DJ to fill in. That didn't really harm anyone...it just
gave him the break he very likely would never have gotten otherwise.

1517.5 | BELIEVE IN YOURSELF | HPSRAD::ZINGARELLI | | Fri Aug 30 1991 14:04 | 13 |
| Frederick, I saw Les last weekend on PBS and he set a fire going
for me. I liked his persistence and positive attitude. Outside
the "salesman-type" tactics, I saw an underlying belief in someone/
something greater than himself. He included subtle references to
the Bible and direct references to God.
The guy has a lot of "guts" and believes in himself not in the
opinions of others. He has the ability to persevere and
most most importantly, "TO FIND HUMOR IN EVERYTHING."
Truly refreshing in these times
/Liz
