1463.2 | Not in VTX | ESCROW::COCHRANE | Rack and Rune | Wed May 08 1991 12:16 | 7 |
| I, too would be interested in the conference. I tried adding
the entry and opening it, but got insufficient privilege, so I
assume it's member's only. It is not listed in VTX.
Anyone know who to contact?

1463.4 | MAGIC ~= MAGICK | CADSYS::COOPER | Topher Cooper | Wed May 08 1991 13:40 | 11 |
| Not the same conference, I think -- its not on the same node, and the
spelling is different. The MAGIC (no K) conference is devoted to
prestadigitation.
How did you hear about the MAGICK conference? Since it has not been
announced it is clearly a private conference. Attempts to enter it
without invitation, even if it were *not* restricted, are questionable
-- equivalent to printing out random text files from other peoples
directories to see what is in them.

Yes. Probably why you would get a privilege violation rather than
a 'not a member' message. If it was discovered by accident,
posting a query about it here could probably be considered poor
etiquette at least. If someone recommended the conference, they probably
have the best chance of knowing more about it.
Thanks for entering that VTX EASYNOTES thing, Bruce, I didn't know
about that !

1463.6 | try ALT.MAGICK on USENET | BEGOOD::HEBERT | Cyberdyne Systems Model 101-A | Mon Jun 03 1991 16:41 | 23 |
| There is a USENET news group called ALT.MAGICK that you can read and post to
using one of our internal news readers (XRN or VNEWS).
Searching the NEWS.RC file (the equivalent of EASYNOTES.LIS,) I found these
groups which may be of some interest:
alt.alien.visitors
alt.dreams
alt.evil
alt.magic
alt.magick
alt.pagan
alt.paranormal
sci.skeptic
talk.religion.newage
Of course, if you spend too much time reading these, you might as well
also add:
misc.jobs.offered

1463.7 | | ESGWST::MIRASSOU | We've all gone to look for America... | Mon Jun 03 1991 21:39 | 10 |
| You can probably skip alt.magic and alt.evil, unless you've got other
reasons you want to look at them. alt.magic is more oriented towards
stage magic, prestidigitation and the like. And last time I looked in
on alt.evil, they seemed more intent on coming up with the most painful
way for killing someone, or the cruelest kind of trick that could be
played. Didn't look likely that they'd head towards discussions of
good vs evil, though I guess it could be possible... All the others
could be of interest, though.

1463.8 | | VERGA::STANLEY | What a long strange trip it's been... | Tue Jun 04 1991 09:51 | 2 |
| I liked alt.magick.. they seem to be true magickians to me, although
they appear to be caught up in a rathole at the moment.
