1360.0. ""The Power"" by BOSOX::KEAVENEY () Thu Sep 13 1990 14:05
Did anyone else happen to catch "Larry King Live" last night on
CNN? His first guest was the author of a new book entitled
"The Power". (I think the author's name is James Cash - he is
the author of other books ... "Panic in Needle Park" being the
only one I recognized).
The book is fiction based on fact regarding the use of occult power
by the super powers for warfare. Supposedly, the USSR has a machine
which can alter the electro magnetic fields in people's brains.
The author referred to a machine he has seen (which they kept showing
each time the show broke for a commercial) which the USSR has used
on people already. He also said it has been speculated that when
Richard Nixon was visiting the Soviet Union on '72 that a mind
altering device was used on Nixon and his travelling party. He noted
that Nixon's doctor had episodes of "unexplainable weeping" and
that Nixon and his entourage went immediately to the CIA upon their
return from USSR to the "CIA's chief in occult study" (or words
to that effect) for examination.
The author was saying there is documented proof that Russia and
the US have and continue to study different "occult" techniques
for possible use in warfare. He mentioned voodoo, black magic,
astrology (!! a caller phoned in a question on this one..."Since
you mentioned astrology, could Nancy and Ronald Regan have been
more involved in this occult study than we know?!?!?" The author
did not believe so!!)
It was quite interesting!! My husband, who is a strong disbeliever
in anything paranormal, got a good laugh over it! He said, "Ya,
and Mikhail Gorbachev didn't used to have that birthmark on his
forehead until someone got ahold of a voodoo doll and a bottle of
ketchup!!")

I just found this book today in my local library.
The author's name is actually James Mills. Haven't started
reading it yet; just wanted to add the correction in case
anyone else was trying to find it.
