1344.0. "SEDONA" by DECATR::GREEN_TA (EXPLORING WITH INTENT) Thu Aug 23 1990 13:44

I tried to find a note that referenced Sedona specifically, so that
I would not be starting a new topic; couldn't find one - so here's
    my questions.

The reason I'm placing the note in this file is due to the fact
that I'm looking for more than just travel info. As Sedona is an
area that contains four powerful vortexes within a few square miles
of each other, there are intense psychi vibrations in the entire
area. Due to this fact, I'm hoping I'll receive some insightful
information from Dejavuer's who may have experienced this place.

I traveling to Sedona next week with my son and his friend. We're
leaving from Salt Lake City, UT. Basic travel and overnight questions
    are:

    1) Does anyone out there know of an interesting route from Salt
        Lake to Sedona?

    2) Do you know which campground would be best? We have a tent,
we'll be staying 5 nights - so a campground with showering
        facilities would be nice.

Indian legend tells us that there are four places in the world
designated as "power spots" and that these four are broken into
two plus two - two positive and two negative, or two "light" and
two "dark". It is believed that the two "positive" places in the
world are Kauai, an island in Hawaii...and Sedona, both red-rock
country. Sedona and Kauai, the Indians say, are vortexes of energy
in which the Great Spririt gives birth to rainbows.

Amid red-rock country (also Southern Utah) ist is said that man
comes face to face with himself and the potentials of this nature.

Both my son and his (and my) friend (he is living with us right
now) are very open to `Dejavu' stuff. We want to experience this
    place to the fullest.

Any thoughts on the following would be helpful....

I have a friend who works with spirit guides. She told me that
we should stay away from Bell rock (a electric vortex), and that
Boynton Canyon (electromagnetic vortex) would be the most positive,
fulfilling experience. If we wanted to experience Bell, she advised
me to visit Boynton Canyon first. She did not mention Airport Mesa
(electric vortex) or Courthouse Rock, also known as Cathedral Rock
(magnetic vortex). She told me to always have paper and pencil
with me while hiking, as there was the potential for a lot of automatic
writing (if I opened myself up to it). She also mentioned the Medicine
Wheels that we might run across, which would be excellent to use
    for medititions.

There is a lot more I could write about what I've read on Sedona.
But I would be very interested in anyone's personal experiences,
if they would like to share. This area is reported to trigger intense
    and varied psychic experiences.

I'm excited!! as are my son Jason and our friend Shane. We want
to make the most of this experience - together, and individually.

I appreciate any information you might have on this.

    Thanks,

    Taunya

    Hi Taunya,

I have no doubt that you will find visiting Sedona a unique
experience. I was there this past May for 5 days (part of
a 3 week vacation to the southwest), and did more climbing
than I ever dreamed I could do! Also, I had a psychic reading
while there and was told that much of the energy of the area
was being *stored up* and would become evident after my return
home, which has turned out to be accurate.

We went to all four of the vortexes. The first was Boynton
Canyon and was, by far, the most balanced and soothing of the
energies (balanced masculine/feminine energy). This was where
I brought lots of my stones and those of others for charging. It's
unfortunate that a lot of development is going on there, and there
may come a time when access to the canyon will be limited. Airport
Mesa (masculine energy) was interesting and there were a few
medicine wheels placed along the way. I had an interesting vision
of a line of light connecting this vortex with the Sphinx. It was
very energizing. Bell Rock (masculine energy) was the next and
the one I enjoyed the most. Dick Sutphen in his book on the vortexes
says to climb right to the base point where the rock becomes vertical.
This is about 300 feet (my estimate). Apparently the energy here
goes straight up rather than spreading out. Again, this was very
energizing and all we did was laugh and have a good time while we
were there. The last was Cathedral Rock (feminine energy), which
I thought was going to be my favorite but turned out to be the
most difficult. In fact, the two attempts we made to get close
to it were thwarted (we lost the path both times). We also had
a really big fight while we were there. Powerful place that I
just don't think we were tuned into to work with at that time.
If you go, I would be interested in hearing about what you
    experience.

I don't have any recommendations for your specific questions, but
do wish you a good visit.

As a related pointer to the Sedona/Phoenix/Tempe area ---

My husband and I visited the Superstition Mountains in Mesa
a few years ago and I experienced *strong* vibrations of
Indian spirituality. I'd be interested in learning more about this
area - and you may find it an interesting side trip from the Sedona
    area.

This interests me greatly. I don't have anything to add; however,
while in the AirForce, I had a stop in Phoenix, at the AFB. We had a
20 minute wait, so I was able to get out and stretch my legs. I
immediately became drawn to the sight of the mountains. I must have
been standing there quite awhile, staring, when one of the flight-line
people asked me if I knew what I was staring at. I didn't. I was told
that those were the Superstition Mountains.(shiver, shiver)

What a beautiful sight. He said that people go in and don't come out
(that was the legend he told me) looking for lost gold. Sorry, but
I'ld be drawn to go in - you'ld almost *have* to...

I'm jealous. Wish I were going - maybe in a couple of years.

    Thanks for sharing about Sedona.

Thanks for the comments. It's been a long time since I set off
to visit a place I haven't been to before, and I've never been so
strongly drawn to a place that I know so little about.

I'll let you all know how the adventure goes.

1344.8trip report, a bit lateSALSA::MOELLERThis space intentionally Left Bank.Fri Oct 05 1990 19:5246
I checked in this conference on the 23rd, (and printed out this topic
note, thanks for .0, I didn't know where the vortices were) the day
before my wife and I were due to leave Tucson for Sedona, for a DEC
weekend function - a TopDEC award dinner. The DEC part was minimal,
and therefore fun. It was Aug 24,25.

We drove out of town toward Boynton Canyon and turned in. The road ran
back about 1/2 mile and then there was a.. sort of a Soviet border
checkpoint, complete with barriers across the road, except that the
building was painted Southwestern Pink. Seems that some developers
bought up the middle of the canyon, and call the development
"Enchantment", and have a Native American on all their ads. Not very
    sensitive to the implications...

So we parked and hiked around the development. The trail hugs the side
of the canyon. About a one hour and 15 minutes' hike brought us to the
vortex. It's well up in the back of the canyon, way out of sight of
    the development. Take water.

The vortex itself is clearly marked by stones. A circle about 40 feet
across, with east-west and north-south also delineated by stones.
Afterward my wife and I noted that we'd stayed excusively in the
southwest quadrant. Several folks were there, laying flat in the dirt,
feet bare, soaking up the vibrations. We found we were content to
catch our breath, sitting on the rocks. I found myself compelled to
circle the inside of the southwest quadrant counterclockwise seven
times. Then I did it clockwise. My wife watched me quizzically for a
couple of moments, and did it herself, except she started clockwise
first, so we were passing each other. The number 7 was clear.

We then left, taking the return at an easy pace. It's a beautiful,
peaceful spot. Were we 'energized' ? Don't know. I do notice that
I've been more musically prolific (I compose and have a home studio)
and that one of my emerging pieces was strongly in my head as we hiked
    away.

The next morning we checked out of Los Abrigados (thanks DEC) and drove
to (something) crossing, near the Boynton Canyon road. We parked the
car and hung out on a sandstone ledge, on the river, feet in the water,
reading Tony Hillerman mysteries, in the shade of a weeping willow,
with a great view of Cathedral Rock. Best time of the whole trip.

I'd go back. Beautiful views, good restaurants. I'm not so drawn by
the vortices. Maybe it's just too subtle.

1344.9To Sedona and BackDECATR::GREEN_TAEXPLORING WITH INTENTThu Dec 13 1990 17:3556
For some reason I have yet to sit down and write about my trip to
Sedona. I was going to keep a journal during the trip - but didn't.
I have a real problem with procastination. Here's a brief
    description.

The adventure of going someplace new gave all three of us extra
fun, alive energy. We never got lost or had car trouble; it was
    simply amazing!

The place we were initially going to camp was not inspiring, so
we found a place in a campground just outside of Sedona that was
great. No shower facilities but great atmostphere.

We got some hiking in every day, and never ran out of energy. WE
spent most of Friday hiking up Boynton Canyon. We hiked up to,
and past, the large medicine wheel. The more we hiked, the more
energy we seemed to have in Boynton. Coming back we were running
down the trail racing each other (a 16, 17, & 36 yr old) the energy
    from this particular vortex gave us fun, almost childlike energy;
    we couldn't get enough.

It rained every day we were there, but not enough to keep us in
the tent. Saturday we went to a psychic fair in Sedona and attended
a past lives' seminar by Don Tinling. We also visited the Bell
and Airport vortices that day. Bell Rock was ok - but too many
people. I picked up real strange, uncomfortable energy from the
Airport vortex and couldn't get away from there fast enough.

My son and I had readings done at the psychic fair, and I have a
feeling that it will not be the last time that Naomi, myself, and
    Jase get together.

Sunday we spent hiking around the Cathedral (Church) Rock vortex
area. We made our own special medicine wheel, each picked a direction
to sit in it and meditate, and took pictures of it to bring back
the feeling, energy, and place. There was a lot of good energy
in this vortex - not the same as Boynton - this was more contemplative,
    searching energy.

Between the red rock formations, national forests, and incredible
hiking trails - 4 days was not near enough time to spend in Sedona.
I know I'll be going back - even possible to live there. I still
feel an incredible pull to that area, as does my son.

I didn't have any amazing `psychic' experiences there, but it was
definitely a catalyst for several negative and positive influences
that called for a halt of my `procrastination' approach in several
    areas.

It's a beautiful place to visit, great places to camp, unusual energy
to absorb - unforgettable. There's volumes more to add about this
trip - but I'd probably better put it in my journal.

    I'll be there again.....
