| I know that others much more knowledgable then myself will answer.
However, as parents, you and your wife should be able to exert some
influence on your children. Try having a heart-to-heart talk with
Annie. Let her know the possibilities and also let her know your true
beliefs on the subject. If your not sure, be honest, tell them that
also. Look into it together. Most people, and certainly every kid I
ever met will respect the truth and an honest effort to explain things
to them and to tell them why something might be bad for them.
Also, you and your wife should be able to talk to this woman and ask
her not to let your child use it. She is an adult and a professional
person I surmise from your note. She should either honor your wishes or
you may have to forbid your child from going there. If she refuses, she
may be trying to manipulate your child for her own purposes and you
should immediately remove your child from that environment.
I hope this helps. As I say, I'm know there are others hers more
knowledgeable about Ouija then I am. They'll respond from that point I
trust. I'm responding as a concerned parent. Mine are 15 and 13 and I'm
constantly worrying about them as I can you do about your's.
I will pray for you and your family that you get a quick, happy
solution to the problem.

1333.2 | Tell them what it really is... | MISERY::WARD_FR | Going HOME--as an Adventurer | Wed Aug 08 1990 16:56 | 19 |
| I would tell your kids that the energies that fool around with
Ouija boards are not energies that can be trusted and that a lot
of "prankster-type" of dialog will be there. At best they can
have a little fun. At worst, they might listen to the board. The
board is not likely to be trustworthy over time. As far as the
devil is concerned, I'd excise that one right away (since I don't
believe in such nonsense.) It's just spirits, not unlike humans,
who have nothing better to do than to annoy people. If they
were human, they'd be called "sick." As it is, people are somehow
intimidated by this rot.
Buy your kids some ice cream and rent a video and don't be so
concerned about this. It's just junk and should probably be
treated as such, but not forbidden.
That's my superficial opinion.

I agree with what Phil had to say, very good advice. It is not(in my
opinion) something that children should be playing with, because there
is potential for harm. Anyone who is easily lead should not be fooling
with it. I would encourage the children to not use it,and, try to focus
them onto something else.
Peace
