1323.0. "Guess who's coming to dinner!!!" by ATSE::FLAHERTY (Peace: The Reality) Thu Jul 26 1990 12:35

We are happy to announce that the next DEJAVU dinner will have some
suprise guests. For all you local folks who have wanted to meet some
familar noting names who live in other areas (like California,
Atlanta, Colorado, Vermont, and HOLLAND), this is your opportunity.
Rumor has it that Frederick Ward, Terry Kasper, Nanci Vanfleet, Guy
Best, and Arie Elsenaar may all be in the Boston Area on Friday,
August 17th.

Mark yout calendars as this is 'predicted' to be a once-in-a-lifetime
event!!! ;')

Joanne will be posting further details (re: time, directions, etc)
soon.

If you're interested in attending the dinner at the Outlook,
please send me a message at:

      		ESMAIL::ESOMS
      		     or
      		ESOMS @BUO

I need to get a count for reservations. I will be getting
the particulars (reservation information and directions) out
to all who respond.

I'm really psyched about this get together. It's always
wonderful to meet the people you've already gotten to know
through their writings.

I would like to go but I hate to walk into a place alone, besides I
haven't been to a get together since the one at Marcia Butchart's, 3
    years ago?

I'm mostly a reader of this conference and a terrible procrastinator.
I've been going to attend more than one of these but always chicken
out. I also have this file and all the note files in my notebook
batched over to my mail, so that it's very rare that I even go into
    notes.

So my answer is a very positive maybe.

    Hugs,
    Fran

    re: .9 (Fran)

I've heard (never having been to one of these) that debauchery
is prevalent, people get rowdy, out-of-control, obscene,
or even on ocassion totally wig-out and do unheard of unspeakable
things. Yes, this notesfile is an illusion of an illusion,
no one is as they "appear" here and everyone is only humanoid
at best. Far be it anyone who isn't into malcreance to attend!
AT any rate, any newcomers are bound to be harassed, vilified
and publically humiliated. So, it sounds like a safe bet to me
that not too many who aren't a little off the mark are going to show up.
Of course, then there are other stories about knitting circles
and afternoon tea. Could be, though, that neither group of stories
is correct. Which story would you like to see happen (and these are
only two of the choices?) Whose reality is this anyway?

    Frederick ;-)
(Hint: I'd like to think that more positive than negative will
be available. Votes will be cast on Monday. :-) )

The truth is, were having a FREDERICK ROAST, so everyone but
Frederick is safe. :^) Sure hope you have a sturdy suit of
armor and can handle it on the plane.

Fran, New Comers, Read Only's and Oldies who don't attend,

The dinners are a great opportunity to get together and meet
new people. This is not a clique, but a group of warm and
friendly people who get together every other month and at
times when other members of the community come to this area.
We share stories, chuckles, and expand our awareness and
    begin new friendships.

The dinners are informal. Your food is chosen off the menu
and you pay for what you order plus contribute to the tip.

If anyone is nervous about attending, please write me off
line. I know how hard it is to attend a gathering when I've
never met anyone before, and it is hard to go alone. So, if
you'd like to join us, just let me know.

I can be reached at ESMAIL::ESOMS or on All-in-1 at ESOMS @BUO.

    Think about it,

1323.13I'd like to do this again!!MISERY::WARD_FRGoing HOME--as an AdventurerWed Aug 22 1990 14:2817
I wish to take an opportunity to thank all of those whom I
was able to meet on Friday. It was a special treat for me and
one of limited accessibility (since you are usually 3,000 miles
away...) It was really great to be able to attach some
faces to names and to share in the love that so many of you
have. I had a really great time and to counteract my sadness
I must visualize more opportunities for similar encounters in
    my future.
This is really a wonderful way for people in here to share
in their spirit, aside from just talking about it. Once again,
and I will deliberately leave out names, thank you to all who
were there (and to others I also met during the time I spent
around Boston-land), thank you for your attentiveness and
kindness and your most precious gift-->YOU!

I too must say thank you to all the wonderful people that I met at last
Friday night's dinner. I admit to being alot unsure of myself and of
what I might encounter as I have tried in the past to become part of a
group. To my dismay previous encounters left MUCH to be desired. I
was delighted to find the people I met Friday to be open, honest, and
caring. They made me feel very comfortable and relaxed and I left with
a genuine feeling of comfort. To anyone who has been unsure of
attending these get togethers I urge you to take the step. I'm sure
you will enjoy it! I know my husband and I did and hope to see
    everyone again soon.

    Thank you all!!!

    Frederick,

You're welcome back any time. One of the treats at dinner was the
massage at the restaurant. Won't forget it.

    MaryAnne and Brian,

Certainly hope to see both of you again. I'm especially pleased
when new people join in for these get togethers. Thanks for writing
those encouraging words. Hopefully others will take a chance and
    join us in the future.

As to the rest of you at dinner,

    I always enjoy your company.

    Love,
    Joanne

I'd also like to say I had a great time at the Outlook dinner. It
was nice to put faces to alot of the entries in this file. I'm glad
that Maryanne and Brian decided to join in. I'm primarily a read-only
in this file, but I try to make all the functions when I can. I
would encourage all read-onlys to attend the next one. You won't
be disappointed. Its alot of fun with good people.

Let me add my thanks and appreciation to those who were there on Friday
night. I have so few opportunities to meet any of you face to face (as
opposed to bit-to-bit) that it was a real treat for me. Good food and
great conversation seemed to be the order of the day.

Thanks to all who were there...
