1290.0. "The Helpless/Hopeless Salesman" by ASABET::BARRAFORD () Mon Jun 25 1990 09:47

I have written a book, which doesn't seem to belong in any
category. There is a lot of anthropology and philosophy in
it, but also an equal amount of mysticism. I consider it a
theory of reality, including human reality. (To make my
theory complete, I could not exclude such subjects as "God",
revelation, etc. simply because it would make my theory
"scientifically" messy.)

Well, I have figured out that the "new age" market is the
most flexible and most forgiving of my many mistakes, but I
only know of the NEW AGE DIGEST. I need help!

What newspapers and magazines could be considered "new age"
publications, where it would make sense to send promotional
copies? How about leading "new age" philosophers? If you
had written a "new age" book, how would you sell it.

I am helpless and hopeless as a salesman. Any help would
be very much appreciated.

You may try visiting your local metaphysical/new age bookstore
and looking through their magazine rack. Also, check some of the
more common "new age" publishing company names by looking at the
copyright page of a number of books.

	Good luck!

    Andrew,

I'll check through my stuff at home - I actually ran across a "How Do
You Get Something Published" ad offering a free book on the subject
the other day and will send it to you. Think it was in a back issue of
    "New Age Journal" at that.

Also, oontact me offline if you like.

    Andrew,

Another avenue might be the A.R.E. Foundation (Founded by Edgar Cayce).
They offer a wide selection of books in the metaphysical area. I don't
have the address here but if you are interested I'll look it up and
post it. (sorry, at the moment I can't remember exactly what A.R.E.
    stands for).

Andrew, could you enter some sample paragraphs from an early chapter so
that we can have a flavor as to what your book is about and the style
that it's written in. That might help us recommend markets for you.

    Good Luck!
