| Mark,
Your note touched me. I can relate. I have brain damage affecting
the area in my brain where motor coordination, sight and hearing come
together. This was given to me by running an extremely high
tempature from food poisoning about 14 years ago. Before that, I
was very coordinated, athletic, the whole bit. Played basketball
at the high school and college levels. Threw the javlin and
did the high jump in high school. Mainly, I was a JOCK. I had
to deal with the degragation of skills over the years, which makes
me understand the frustration you have and will have over the years.
I went through the same denial stage that you're going through now.
Took test after test, etc.
Then, I began to "see" and "hear" with clarity. No, nothing super or
anything. Just around me. I met someone in a wheelchair. Befriended
her. Befriended other people. My world opened. I experienced life.
It still bothers me. Esspecially when I realize my son will need
someone to teach him basketball and all.
Well, this is getting to thick. I'm sorry. If I missed the mark,
well...

| Mark, and Craig,
Your notes touch me too. I'm getting along in years now, so I've had
a lot of trial and tribulation to qualify me as an empathizer. The
problem is similar, complete loss of hearing in one ear due to a
combination of war damage, and then MS in mid-life that did some
additional Central Nervous System damage. I too was well coordinated,
did all the sports, was a leader in physical prowess in the military,
so, like you, know what has been lost. As for the healing process:
I,m afraid I have no single procedure, or what have you, to advise
about, but I have had a lot of healing. It has come about through
a combination of : Faith, introspection, meditation, and getting to
know your own physical body well enough to know just how much to push
it (to achieve mobility), as opposed to not pushing it too much!
Its a delicate balance. But most importantly - stay in the mainstream
of life as much as possible, compete as much as possible, meditate as
much as possible. Often when I meditate I try as best I can to comm-
unicate with the molecules of my own body (hard to explain). No,
healing has not been complete, but there has been definite improvement
over the "worst times". I hesitate to use the cliches "strong will",
"positive attitude", because that begs for a clear definition of just
what do you mean by this ? I don't know for sure, but of all I would
say "will" it. and "believe" it.
Hope I,m not talking in circles. Nice to talk to you all. John

There is a book entitled "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise Hay that
has helped me and many other of my friends shed new light on physical
diseases. Someone else has read "Minding The Body, Mending The Mind"
and found it to be excellent (not sure of the author though).
I take preventative medicine to keep chronic migraines under control,
and through medication, contemplation and the like, I hope to be able
to reduce the amount of medicine taken over time. It's a long road
though - changes in diet, exercise, stress reduction, positive
affirmations and so on.

A few months ago, there was a special report on older Asian women now
living in this country who are experiencing either hearing or sight
lost (or both), but there is no physical reason why their condition is
occurring. The report went in depth to show how doctors had examined
them by performing many very thorough tests, but could find no evidence
of damage or disease.
The common link, and the reason I took particular notice, is that all
of the women had witnessed horrors beyond horrors during (I believe)
the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia, or one of the other holocausts that
have taken place in the far East. In addition, they all started
exhibiting these symptoms around the same time. The researchers
studying this were very excited because this is one of the first
control groups they've had to study the mind/body connection and they
hope this research will provide some breakthrough evidence so that
other people might be helped in the future in less traditional ways.
I can't remember which program it was, however I think it was 20/20
with Tom Jarrel. Anybody else see this?

| There are many ways of healing that many people believe in.
But don't ignore Western Medicine.
If you are losing your hearing, see a doctor.
If you wait, the damage could become permanent.

| Yes I saw that show most fascinating. it was 20/20 I think what the
report said was that these people feel guilt about leaving there
country and their friends and their living conditions so I guess
it is sorta self inflicted.
