| I usually think of house dreams as referring to myself, with the attic
referring to my unconscious. I'm not sure what the basement or yard
would refer to, though!

Karl,
I'm no expert but it sounds to me as though you feel
the need to rid yourself of something which no longer suits you
(thought pattern, personal habit, lifestyle....). It won't be easy, but
with proper suport you are ready to "take the bull by the horns" and
follow through. Oh, by the way it will be easier than you thought.
FWIW;IMHO,
Mark

I always wish that dreamers were available to provide instant feed-
back for the numererous questions that come to mind. For instance,
my first question would be, "Do you live in a multistory house?"
Without the benefit of such niceties, however, I'll proceed down the
track of another *possible* interpretation:
A new worker (boarder) has arrived who shares some of your space -
perhaps even your terminal or software (database-meant.) His habits
are really getting to you - perhaps he leaves food (board) around or
perhaps his talk, better know as "bull," is particularly obnoxious and
boring. You and your buddies decide to get rid of him. First you're
going to get into the terminal (window), and so you all traipse down
to the office, only to find that he's already there. Yipes! It's the
bull all right (white), and he's about to let loose with another crock
of - aha! you do him one better this time. You give him a dose of his
own medicine. You engage him in conversation until he turns aside, at
which point your friends take over and keep him busy (tied up.)
You say in your write-up, "Apparently I was quite strong, because I was
able to ...topple him...." I think that you were able to topple him
because he was weak. The bull is characterized as "albino - and such
a creature is deficient in pigment. (But then I'd have to ask you if
you knew anybody named Al or Bill who....)

| Karl,
I would say that the basement represents your dark inner self, which
has been annoying you lately by being interested in Things of Which
You Disapprove. Probably sex, since your subconscious is in charge
of dreams.
Your conquest of the white bull is a conquest of these improper urges.
Have you ever read anything about Mithras? This Persian religion
is an ascetic religion, accessible only to men, and has as its primary
symbol the conquest of a white bull. It looks like you have taken
the role of an initiate into this religion, with your friends in
the role of assisting priests.

| Thank you for all the thoughts. I'm aware of the multistory house as a
metaphor for the chakras, and well aware that to me the basement is the
subconscious and possibly a symbol for the lower chakras.

Not now, but I did as a child, and have had many, many dreams take
place in that space. This house did not look like the childhood home
and surroundings, however.
The white bull is the dominant image for me, and the phrase 'took the
bull by the horns' jumped out immediately upon awakening. It's clear
that I want to put my house in order, and that the bull represents active
opposition to that end, and that to do it all I need the active
participation of my support system.
Certainly seems to be an enabling dream, though we didn't actually
approach the house - it ended with tying up the bull. Stopping the
bull. Interesting phrase.. I need to stop the bull..
thanks again. karl

My first thought is that mentally you are trying to control your
lower, animal-type drives. Of course the mind *can* do this, but
is it what you want?
