1217.1 | Them little green apples. | CSCMA::PERRY | | Tue Feb 20 1990 10:17 | 14 |
| We know that (from "The Secret Life of Plants" - published some
years ago) plants can react to their enviroment, suffer loss and
have some sort of 'feeling' at some level.
They are a life form, right. We are a life form, right?
And if one believes that we are influenced by the energies given
by and being balanced by the stars and planets, then why can't plants?
I know that when I do my spring planting or house plant watering,
I always send a blessing towards them so they will be healthy and
grow. I would theorize that there are "positive growth cycles"
or something of the sort in astrology. I would say our little
green (or multi colored) friends are affected.

There is a great book entitled "Behaving As If The God In All Life
Mattered", by Michaelle Small. It's been over a year since I read it,
however she has a little in there about her gardening experiences,
though can't remember if she has any charts or anything.
Then there is the Farmer's Almanac. (;^)

| Nope. But my next door neighbor does use the planting charts in the almanac
and has about the same quality of garden as I do I can't really say it has
any effect. I have read the secret life of plants and found it interesting
but somewhat less than enlightening.
I think weather, skill and preparation play more active roles.

| The simplest astrological gardening guide is to plant or transplant
when the Moon is transiting through a Water sign (Cancer, Scorpio,
Pisces). Also try to plant during a waxing (increasing) Moon.

Years ago, I had extensive herb and vegetable gardens, as well as a
greenhouse for semi-tropical and tropical plants (all at a home west
of Boston). At the suggestion of several gardeners, whose success in
growing beautiful specimens of *everything* was awe-inspiring, I began
to plant certain crops at specific lunar phases, as well as planting
and gathering at specific times of the day. Crops and plants were
spectacular!
I'll go back into my gardening journals for notes, and post the
information here, or you can contact me offline -
