| tj,
The extraction sounds similar to what I've heard termed a 'pull out'
used in spiritual/energy healing. It is when the healer helps you to
recall the experience which caused a 'disease' to occur in a specific
part of the body, by remembering the cause and then having the healer
'pull out' the fear/anger that has been stuffed into that area.
Seems to be very effective in my experience.
I'm unclear about soul retrieval. Could you explain further? My
confusion is when you refer to more than one soul leaving the body to
escape the experience.
Interesting topic. Thanks for inputting it.

Re. 0 (Green)
Hi there!
This procedure of extraction sounds very similar to a chapter I read
in "Travels" by Michel Crichton entitled "An Entity", where he worked
with someone who was able to banish an unwelcome entity in his aura at
the astral plane level. Crichton had created it to protect him from
some difficult childhood years, however the entity was now holding him
back from forming intimate relationships with people as it was
manifesting itself in his life in the forms of harshness, secretiveness,
and so on.
"Travels" is an autobiography of sorts, where he talks about his
various explorations of the physical world and non-physical realm and
what he learned from them - mostly learned about himself. Excellent
book.
Taunya - please write more, particularly about the retrieval - thanks.

Further explanation on soul retrieval -
When something very traumatic happens to an individual, emotional
or physical, it can cause part of you to literally leave the body
to escape the extreme physical and psychological pain associated
with the incident. As explained to me, this is to help you to survive,
to continue on.
At ages 2, 9, 15, incidents occured to me that caused parts of me
to leave because they could not endure the trauma. Shamans use
terms like `soul loss' and `soul retrieval' to address this.
The person who did the extraction for me could not tell at which
age the spiritual intrusion entered, but said it seemed old.
Soul retrieval is a very powerful technique that can cause
side-effects, such as emotional crises or a need to make changes
in one's life (you have regained a part of you that has been missing
for years). My two year old was happy when she was found (she was
in a dark void). The 9 yr old was hiding in a closet facing the
wall, full of sadness. The 15 yr old was quite sassy (found in
a dark void also). I feel that it is very necessary to bring these
parts back, but am experiencing the pain, anger, and sadness associated
with the original traumas. It will take a lot of integration and
work to welcome back and join together these souls that were lost.
A very positive feeling I am experiencing is that of being much
more aware and `here' than I've felt in a long time. I will be
meeting with the person who did the extraction and soul retrieval
next week, she will go on a diagnostic (shaman) journey to see if
she can receive input as to what I can do to further the healing.
Enough for now - have a good weekend.

That does sound similar to what I know so far. Also, I should have
clarified that the spiritual intrusion occured at the same time
as one of the traumas - I was open and vulnerable.
I had a session prior to the actual work in order for the guide to
to journey and determine what healing would be helpful. It was
then, with the help of her power animal, that the spirit intrusion
and soul loss was discovered.
The next session (my son was with me, age 16) was when the extraction
and soul retrieval was done. The extraction was first, followed
by the retrieval. The power animal was very instrumental in removing
the extraction. It was thrown towards a body of water. It is the
shaman belief that when a negative energy/entity is submerged in
water it is transformed to positive when emerging. Also, a rattle
was used over the area where the intrusion was to bring it to the
surface. A crystal was used in conjunction with a journey to find
the lost souls.
Now I'm really saying good night & have a good weekend.

| TJ,
This may sound dumb, but, I'll ask anyway. What made you realize that
you need help to retrieve your lost parts of your souls? Or was it
coincidence to find out that's what you needed? What I'm trying to say
is that you took the initial step to go to this lady who helped you,
but did you know that you needed some sort of spiritual help before got
to her?
I don't mean to intrude, but was just curious, since most people who go
through traumas don't end up with soul retrievals, and don't even know
about them.

| I am uneasy with the idea of "souls" as the terminology here.
Are they actully souls or would it be better to use the word
"thought forms". I think this would sound more accurate. The
whole notion is rather fascinating.

Was this a coincidence on discovering the need for the soul retrieval?
In a sense it may have been. But then I believe that when the timing
is right, new knowledge is placed in your path. There was a workshop
coming up in Shamanism/Process Work that I was going to participate
in. This was an advanced workshop, and I had not attended the one
just prior to it. However, I did have other previous exposure to
the Shaman beliefs. One of the leaders of the workshop wanted to
meet with me pior to the workshop beginning to determine if was
`ready' for the advanced group. During that session she went on
a Shaman journey for me to see if there were any suggestions or
questions that needed to be addressed before beginning.
It was during this session that she was made aware of the need for
a extraction and soul retrival. I consider myself very fortunate
to have had this encounter. I am aware that it will take a long
time to integrate the intensive work that we did during the actual
extraction and soul retrieval.
It was very interesting to me that two of the ages, 9 & 15, coincided
with traumatic events that happened to me but I was unaware of until
my sisters told me about them.
Response to .6 (why not call them them thought forms instead of
souls?)
Because of the spiritual realms involved and the belief that is
parts of yourself that are split off (lost souls), thought forms,
to me, misses the intensity and depth of the occurrene/event.

Multiple personality vs soul loss -
This question came up for me also, when I was reading `Birth of
a Modern Shaman'. Tayla suffered extreme mental, physical, and
sexual abuse when she was young; she experienced severe trauma even
in the womb. Later, in the integration of the resulting multiple
personalities, some personalities were welcomed into the `oneness'
and some were souls that had attached themselves to Tayla when she
was very vulnerable and open and they were sent on their way.
This is even a more complex example. There was no mention in the
book of soul retrieval. It raised a lot of new questions for me.
I will ask my guide when I next meet with her, how all of this,
(if it does) relates to the different situations.

| Re.10
There were spirits attached to Tayla that were not her's. When
they were dismissed, it was not mentioned where they went. When
I had the extraction done, my guide told me that the entity would
not want to leave, as it liked where it was and did not know where
it would be going. I did experience a sharp, quick physical pain
when it was pulled out.

Hi TJ,
I was curious to know, if you dont mind me asking, you had mentioned
in note .7 that two of the ages..9 & 15 coincided with traumatic events
that happened in your life but was unaware of them until your sisters
told you about them... What were these incidents...??
If its to hard to talk about it, I can understand, I was just curious.
* Cindy...
The book you mention in note .2 sounds very deep, I think I might
look into getting a copy....
