1189.1 | My connection to this show | BUSY::NFELDMAN | Thu Dec 21 1989 13:20 | 9
To those of you who are curious or concerned about my connection with Richard Urban I'd like to reassure that I'm in no way related to him or the show. I do not exhibit at the show, nor have I ever. When I first returned to this area from the Southwest Richard was kind enough to help me find resources and share his knowledge with me. I have been to a number of Richard's shows and always find many interesting and enjoyable peole and products there.
1189.2 | Gem & Mineral Show | SMEGIT::BALLAM | Mon Mar 26 1990 16:40 | 44
For those of you interested in mineral shows, this is a news release from the Nashua Mineral Society. Usual disclaimer, I have nothing to gain by posting this. ............................... Shower of Gemstones and Minerals NASHUA, N.H. - The Nashua Mineral Society is pleased to sponsor the "Shower of Gemstones and Minerals" Show on Saturday, April 7th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, April 8th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, exit 4 off Route 3, in Nashua. Admission at the door is $2.00, and parking, like children under 12, is free. Like the crystals on display, this Show has many inter- esting facets, including 12 mineral and gem dealers and displays of outstanding mineral specimens from New England and around the world. Highlighting the Show will be on-going gem carving demonstrations by internationally acclimed Michael Dyber. Dyber was the first American to win a major prize in the prestigious Idar-Oberstein Gem Carving Competition. He was the winner of the 1988 Gemmy Award in the first U.S. Gemcutters Competitive Competition and was nmed U.S. Gemcutting Champion. An on-going Silent Auction of high quality gem and mineral specimens and cutting materials donated by Nashua Mineral Society members will be offered every hour on the hour beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, and 12 noon Sunday. Winners must be present to claim their items. A splendid 14.8 carat specimen of the state gemstone, smokey quartz, was faceted by Society member Mike Undercoffler, and is being offered as the Door Prize. The gemstock for this prize was dug from the same mineral "pocket" as the large smokey gem on display in the New Hampshire State Capitol Building. For more information about the "Shower of Gemstones and Minerals" Show, contact Don Ryder at 465-2706. |
