1157.0. "Astronomical Dates To Remember" by STAR::HARAMUNDANIS (what are we doing?) Mon Oct 23 1989 18:14

I thought I'd try this in this notes conference to see if people
are interested. For my own astronomical reference, I keep track of
certain astronomical events which come up throughout the year.

I'm offering to post these as they come up, if people are
interested. If not, then no big deal, just let me know.

I posted these once to the Astronomy notes conference, but it wasn't
very well received, so I thought I'd share it with you folks.

It sure would be nice to share this with some more open-minded people!

    Regards,

    Sergei

    Re: .1

In regards to the name of November's full Moon, from what I understand
this comes from the New England colonists naming of the Moons of the
year to mark certain events and seasonal changes.

For instance, November's full Moon is called a Beaver Moon because that
    is when beavers start hibernating.

    Re: .2

Thanks very much for the welcome Cindy...makes me feel right at home!

Also, I have been pointed to note 672 concerning Astrological events
and I think, for the sake of keeping these types of things together,
I will post additional Astronomical dates as replies to that note,
rather than having two seperate topics.

Of course, if people would rather have it in a seperate topic, then
that can be arranged too, just let me know.

    Thanks and regards,

I just picked up an '89 Medicine Womans's Journey Through The
year engagement calender (I have two months left in the year
to *try* to get organized) and came across November 1st as
being a Mad Moon. Does anyone know what a Mad Moon is?
