| Pete,
I received the following notice from Astrolabe in the mail.
I am sure they would send product brochures if you contact them.
Another reputable astrological software company to consider is
Para Research in Gloucester MA.

1113.2 | It's somewhere | USAT05::KASPER | All life can be a ritual | Tue Nov 28 1989 13:46 | 12 |
| This is a reply to note 1174, a request for Astrology PC software.
Available (as public domain software) somewhere on node CSCMAS is
an archive file for ASTR31. I've seen it but can't evaluate it since
I'm not versed in Astrological specifics. It's best feature is that it
is free...
You may try looking through or asking the question in the NAC::IBMPC notes
conference. They may point you to where on CSCMAS it resides. If that fails,
post a note here and I'll try to find the copy I had.

1113.3 | PCs are fine, but what about a VAX? | VCSESU::TODHUNTER | | Wed Jan 17 1990 18:14 | 8 |
| Has anyone ever come across software to generate a chart that runs on
a VAX? I don't have access to a PC. I imagine someone out there must
have this but I have been unable to locate it. There are several
references to ASTR31 and ASTR50 and the rest, but they all appear to be
for PCs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Andy

1113.5 | ...downloaded from GEnie... | BTOVT::HARAMUNDANIS | | Tue Sep 08 1992 17:00 | 9 |
| For those that might be interested, over the long weekend I took some time to
download two Astrology programs that I thought would be useful. These are IBM
compatible:
ASTROL95
ASTRO-31
Both of them are .ARC and I haven't UNARC'd them yet. However, if there is enough
interest, I can upload them to make them available to folks.
|
1113.6 | Can you put them on the net ? | PLAYER::VERHEYEN | | Wed Sep 09 1992 05:51 | 5 |
| Please download them.
ASTROL95 is very good. Will be interesting for a lot of people.
ASTRO-31: I want to have a look at it.
Guido.

1113.8 | Yes please. And thankyou. | CURRNT::GURRAN | My reality or yours ? | Wed Sep 09 1992 16:44 | 6 |
| Hi,
Thanks for spending the time. I would like access to the programs
please. ARC/ZIP or whatever.

1113.9 | ...astrology (and astronomy) shareware is now available... | BTOVT::HARAMUNDANIS | | Thu Sep 17 1992 11:01 | 28 |
| The following shareware is now available on the net at the following location:
Astrology shareware:
SIGRUN""::UD$2:[HARAMUNDANIS.SHAREWARE.ASTROLOGY]ASTROL95.ARC
SIGRUN""::UD$2:[HARAMUNDANIS.SHAREWARE.ASTROLOGY]ASTR-31.ARC
You will need a program to unARC these.
I have attempted to unARC these and have gotten ASTROL95 to work, but as it is
shareware and I haven't registered yet, it will not let me plot a chart. It will
only give me a report of positions/signs/etc. I have not been able to get
ASTR-31 to work, however, it may be a problem with the unARC software I am using.
Astronomy shareware:
SIGRUN""::UD$2:[HARAMUNDANIS.SHAREWARE.ASTRONOMY]SKYGLB31.ZIP
SIGRUN""::UD$2:[HARAMUNDANIS.SHAREWARE.ASTRONOMY]ALW113.ZIP
You will need a program to unzip these. They are both excellent.
If you have problems accessing the savesets, send e-mail.
Enjoy!
Regards,
Sergei

1113.10 | ...you *can* run IBM compatible software on a VAX workstation... | BTOVT::HARAMUNDANIS | | Thu Sep 17 1992 12:18 | 27 |
| FYI,
For those of you who do not have a IBM compatible PC, there is a solution for
VAX workstations (Risc-Ultrix and VMS).
The solution is SOFTPC.
Information on this product follows. I recommend that the workstation have
at least 16MB of memory, a hard disk, and a a floppy disk. Minimum suggested
platform is a VS3100/M38 (which I am using successfully running as a satellite
with an RZ22 hard disk and an RX23S floppy disk drive). Would be even better to
run this on a VS3100/M76 or even a VLC-4000 or VS4000-60 (newer/replacement
models). I am currently running w/VMS V5.5-1 and SoftPC V3.0.
The notes conference on SOFTPC is located on WRKSYS::WS_PC_SOLUTIONS
See note 480.74 and later for updates on future releases.
There is a $60 charge to your cost center to get the license.
Kits/pointers to kits are located on:
HADLEY""::DKA300:[SOFTPC.VERSION3VMS]
HADLEY""::DKA300:[SOFTPC.VERSION3RISC]
HADLEY""::DKA300:[SOFTPC.VERSION3_DOC]
The latest version is 3.0 which came out around 11-Oct-91.
There is currently an FT4.0 (BETA 10) version available since 17-Aug-92.

I saw a pretty good charting program on CD-ROM for Windows a couple of
years ago. When I went back to the shop two weeks later, cash in grubby
paw, they had not just sold it or anything, oh no, the shop had gone
out of business, and I could see the program on the shelf in the shop
for weeks, through the closed door. Arrrgh!! I have yet to find the
software anywhere else .... boo hoo!
Any ideas???

| I had a hard time finding software that was accurate. I have more than
one. A friend finaly wrote me a program that is accurate. You still
have to do the charting and progressions by hand so it's not for
someone that's in the beginnings of learning.

I lost/discarded about 15 astrology books, including a good ephemeris
when I moved to Brussels. Now I am moving back I really regret it :-(
I ought to try writing a program myself really, I have the programming
skills, and probably even the 'mechanical' physics and mathematics
training to calculate the planet trajectories. Could be a fun project,
and would give me something else to do. If it were an accurate program
I could think about selling/giving it to other people too :-)

I have a PC/Windows program that I use that I've found to be very accurate.
It's called AstroScopes by Lifestyle Software Group. It works great and it's
been very accurate so far. A couple of things I don't like about it, but
nothing major.
Also a friend let me see a PC/Windows program called Astrologer by SoftKey.
While it's very versatile, it hasn't been very accurate. In fact, for one
person it got her sun sign wrong.
