Yes, yes, I really like it when that happens. I have met people in my life
for the first time and truly felt as if I knew them very well. It has been
one of the warmest, nicest feelings. Could this be the group that we 'hang out
with' in lifetimes? How come the feeling is always warm? Never cold? This
is also like knowing what someone is going to say, before they say it...
Gee, this is fun.... YOU knew I was going to say that, didn't you?

1063.2 | I know that vase.. | DECATR::GREEN_TA | EXPLORING WITH INTENT | Thu Jun 01 1989 14:57 | 32 |
| Just this past weekend I had an intense `dejavu' incident that is
somewhat similar to that type of experience.
I met (for the first time) a friend of my sister's, who seemed
instantly familiar, but I wasn't sure why. Later on that night
as he was leaving he threw a vase out of his truck and told my son
that he didn't have room for it (he's was mad at something having
to do with his recent divorce). My son put the vase on the porch.
I was in the house during this entire incident and knew nothing
about it as it was occurring.
The next morning I noticed the vase and asked Jase about it. He
told me that Mike had thrown it out of his truck - I said - "I had
a dream approx. two years ago where a vase just like that was thrown
out of a truck by a man (then realizing the resemblance of Mike
to the man in the dream) who was angry and said he didn't have room
for it, and when I questioned him throwing it away - he said - it's
only a vase." My son got this amazed look on this face and told
me I had recounted the incident almost word for word. I then realized
why Mike seemed so familiar, and every time I passed that vase on
the porch I just couldn't get over how familiar and well-known it
seemed to me.
I also wonder if I kicked around with Mike in a previous
life/experience. I also wonder if that means this has any significance
as to what our relationship might involve from now on. I do know
this is one of the most vivid Dejavu experiences I have ever had
- and I've had more than a few.
I can't get it of my mind. Makes life interesting.....

1063.3 | Memories?? | PMROAD::HOLT | | Thu Jun 01 1989 16:42 | 22 |

When I was a kid, about 7 or 8 yrs old, I had a dream about a snake.
I was in the jungle, and the snake was an "Anaconda." I told Mom
about it the next day, and she said, "That's interesting, dear,
but I've never heard of an anaconda."
About 6 years later, I was reading a book about snakes, and came
across the term - it's a south American snake! Kinda the same
situation - never had a reason to KNOW what kind of snake it was,
but I did. Also interesting is the fact that I had nightmares for
days after watching a WWII movie in which someone died within just
a few moments of being bitten by a snake, and now I've got this
"poisonous snake" phobia.
My theory - not believing in reincarnation, I think we may inherit
memories of our parents/grandparents, etc. I've often dreamt about
a very green hillside sloping down to a cold ocean - perhaps memories
from my Irish grandparents? If we inherit personality/physical
traits, I bet it's pretty possible that we inherit other things
as well.

Hello!
Hope I'm not too late to join in with this - been away for
2 weeks and only just got back!
I know EXACTLY the feeling you are all describing and it is
wonderful isn't it?
Trouble is......my funny feeling regarding someone is still
going on today and I still don't know what to make of it.
This notes file, together with the poetry file were the start
of my situation when a fellow noter sent me a mail message and
I replied. After a couple of replies we were (and still are
but not so much) mailing each other and telephoning once a day
or more. We finally met a while ago and have been to lunch
together several times since (I am in England and he is overseas)
and everytime we have met we both feel this strange but very
strong bond which appears to have been there even BEFORE we actually
met.
Luckily, on our FIRST meeting, this feeling of closeness was mutual
and so strong that we actually gathered up our courage and told
each other about it. Rather than awkwardness or embarrassment we
both felt a great relief at talking about it and - as it feels
alien to be cold or formal with each other - we have sort of
adopted a brother/sister type of relationship and have a code of
practice that we hug each other whenever we meet!! This breaks
down the wierd feeling which still strikes us when we see each other
and actually lets the warmness and affection we automatically feel
for each other out in the open.
Trouble is......we both wonder WHAT it means, WHERE that feeling
of sort of dejavu comes from and WHY two people who live in totally
different countries and met over the electronic mail system should
feel the way we do??!!
Most strange.....but nice nonetheless - any comments or ideas??
Sandy
p.s. The word SOULMATE comes to mind many times but I don't really
understand what this is or even how you know if you've met
one........and what to do about it!!!!

Re.4 (Hood)
Hi Sandy,
For more information on soulmates, type: DIR/TITLE=SOUL while in
this conference, and the titles and numbers will appear. I'd do it for
you, however I'm set hosting thru a few nodes right now and it is S L O
W. (;^)
There is also a book on soulmates entitled "Soulmates" by Jess Stern
(or Stearn).
I've had many similar situations where people I've just met seem so
familiar. It's great when it happens, especially if you are able to
help each other out by being good friends.

Hi Cindy,
Thanks very much for the info. - I'll pop down to our local
Book Shop this weekend and see if they can get me that book
you suggested, it sounds really interesting.
It was especially nice to see your name at the end of the
message - is it you who writes in the POETRY file? Also,
you know one of my noter friends too I believe....Dave Pellatt!
Small world.
Thanks again,
Sandy.

Hi Sandy,
A bit belated...busy week.
Dave Pellatt - a familiar name if I ever saw one! (;^)
I'm probably not the one in the POETRY conference as I've only poked in
there a couple of times and have never actually entered anything.
Glad to be of help.

There is also "Bridge Across Forever" by Richard Bach.
It isn't as _technical_ as "Soulmates" though, but fun reading.

Hi Dave,
I'm currently planning a trip to Europe next May or so, hopefully for 3
weeks. No firm plans yet - will probably buy a Eurailpass and hop
around on the trains for a bit.
