I had a few interesting experiences and I thought I could share some
with you. They all start from my dreams, and are associated with
places I visit later.
Before I came to US, about 9-10 years ago, I dreamt that I was in
a little island, amidst the storms and tornadoes. Couldn't know
where this place was, until I came to Cambridge, MA. and saw
the exact layout on Charles River near the Long Fellow bridge.
I also used to dream a lot about this boathouse, and saw it years
later in Martha's Vineyard, my first visit to the island.
I dreamt of a building in Washington, DC, by the water, and in my
first visit to Washington, couldn't believe ny eyes that this place
really existed, with all the details from my dream.
I don't want to get into the details, even though I still remember
the dreams vividly. But it is the strangest feeling when the dream
has a big affect on you, and you don't know why until you finally
see the place.
I had a few more interesting dreams, but three is enough.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

I grew up in south Florida, and in my teens had a recurring dream in
which a man, two children and I were in an aquarium of rather
interesting design. A very large cylindrical tank was in the center of
the building, and a ramp spiralled around it, affording visitors a view
of marine creatures of all sizes swimming as though in a natural
environment. Along the outer walls of the building were other aquatic
exhibits, and outside was an area for seals and penguins.
Needless to say, I was surprised when the accepted design for the New
England Aquarium was first made public. After its construction, for
years I refused to go to the aquarium, much to the dismay of my
children and then-husband, since each showing of the dream had always
included a sense of sadness, unease and foreboding.
I finally did go with the girls and a male friend, and the building
was indeed exactly as I'd dreamed years before, and 1700 miles away.
I walked from the top to the bottom saying "and now on the next level
we'll see...", accurately predicting the exhibits we'd see as we
descended.
This occurrence was the strongest of several similar 'place' dreams
I've had - strongest in that it was recurrent, whereas other dreams of
places which I've subsequently visited have been one-time events, although
of a clarity, strength and level of detail - I've actually had
the sensation of strong smells in some cases - that make them different
from other dreams I've had.
Of course, this has been my own version of dejavu, vu deja indeed
as I slept weeks, months, or years before.
