I've had a similar dream about tornadoes... a long time ago.
It was, without a doubt, the most vivid dream I have ever had.
I even remember looking up one of the funnels and feeling the
warmth of the air rushing up.
I have no idea what the dream means, nor do I really care.
It was just a dream, albiet a very vivid one. I have not
dreamed of tornadoes since. If that's significant, I can't
imagine how.
Gosh, I'm just a wealth of useful information, aren't I...

I've had those dreams before. I BELIEVE that, there's a choice
that you have to make; it's a choice that's going to effect the
rest of your life here on earth and eternity. My first question
to you is: Are you a christian? or do you just attend church services?
(Well what does that have to do with it?:-) )
The doorway you were standing under is, what you would call, the
shelter that God had placed over you to protect you from the wrath
to come (Tornados). YOU see and know what we are in, and what we
are heading for; but, your trying to decide whether or not you want
to commit your life to Christ or not ( Those are the cross roads
that goes "UP" or DOWN"): maybe because there are so many people
fussing about so many differant BELIEFS; not only that, maybe because
of the way you see other people live, they SEEM to be , and are
miserable, and you feel that you just don't want to give up your
life for that.
Comment?
Am I right or wrong :@)

| re: .3 (Ray)
From a psychological perspective, it sounds like a projection
of disillusionment with the church and/or God. Understandable,
given the state the world is in.
How do you deal with it? I suppose that depends on whether
you WANT to be faithful to the religion or not. If so, bolster
your image of Christ as powerful. Visualize successful battles
with demons while awake... try painting them. That helps solidify
the images. I have often dreamt of the scenes I was painting,
and the dreams provided even more detail to paint.
If, on the other hand, you wish to acknowledge your loss of
faith, then I suspect the dreams will stop by themselves as
you cease to expose yourself to the propaganda (church).

RE: nothing in particular, just babbling again.
"little slices of death" Cute title....have you considered writing
lyrics for Heavy Metal bands? :-)
Dreams and dreaming for me have sort of changed quite a bit
over time. I used to control my dreams at times to create what I
wanted to happen to happen (in the dream) weather I wanted to talk
to this person or visit some place ect. But now I find that it
really isn't of any intrest for me to do this anymore...
When I controled my dream I lost the fun of being overwhelmed
by the intensity of emotions and waking up in the "cold sweat"
or experiancing the emotional impact of what occured in the dreams.
When it became a game or a toy to play with I became detached from
the emotional aspect of it. What would really rot was that I would
find myself in a really chaotic/scary situation, realize I was
dreaming and then change/alter things to create an order or story
plot. The effect I believe this held on my waking life was that
I would rationalize or deal with emotions I was experiancing instead
of just experiancing the emotion.
I guess thats the problem I have with alot of the CYOR folks.
That being that you dont experiance the thrills of being the creation
if your the creator. You miss out on something.
I must confess that I still control my dreams every now and
then and do a guest appearance on the old MISSION IMPOSSIBLE or
replay or create a meeting with a friend, but the emotions experianced
at those times are nowhere near what they are when I unleash my
fears/"little slices of death" or my joys and humor. Why do we have
to put law and order into everything before we can be comfortable?

| re.6 Correct. Poe said it. The phrase befits his demeanor.
re whichever note mentions some kind of religious conflict as the
source of my dreams:
I don't think so. I am a Christian (albeit not a very good one)
but my beliefs and desires in that area are secure and well-
defined. I have a tendency to believe, however, that they do reflect
conflicts of a personal nature. Roiling tornadoes seem to be a
pretty good indication of that. Don't know. Maybe a woman was messin'
with my life at the time. Tornadoes can sometimes be a good metaphor
for relationships too; especially in my life, it seems.
And the dream about the mountain might, in fact, indicate that
a decision should be made. Again, though, I don't think the decision
involved a religious choice. Probably a woman again. Hmmm. Seems
like there might be a consistent pattern here. I'll have to stew
in my own juices about this one for awhile. Goin' away now. Bye.

| RE: .3 (Ray)
All three, to me, seem to have the same theme - slightly varied.
In all cases I see it as an indicator that there is something
within you (subconscious) that is trying, or needs to be released
and dealt with. In the first case it was 'locked' and boarded up
within an old cabin. Maybe something from the past?? In the other
two it came through a transformation. Perhaps a transfromation in
you needs to take place before you can face it. Also, the religious
aspect may indicate that that avenue will not help you deal with the
problem.
In the last one, you try to escape it but arn't able to steer the car -
don't have control of the situation. In the resturant, it occurs as
you head for the mens room. Maybe this indicates; 1.) masculine energy
won't help or keep you from it, or 2.) your trying to escape/ignore the
problem and be alone and that won't work either.
Looks like you have to face up to something...

| I too, dream of tornadoes all the time. I see them at a distance
and they approach slowly. I'm never afraid but as you said, facinated.
Extremely vivid! I've always felt that these dreams were due to
the fact that my mother was in the Worcester Tornado a few years
before I was born. Her car was actually sucked up in the funnel
and moved 1/4 of a mile. Her survival was a blessing, especially
for me :) So, I've always attributed the dreams to some type of
brand on my genes or something.
By the way, does anyone know if I would have been born if Mom hadn't
made it? I know I'd be someone else in body but what about in spirit?
Was this my one and only chance?

| re.9 Don't know if this is the one and only life but I can
pretty much guarantee that this is the only YOU. If reincarnation
is real I'd probably figure to liken it to the implosion and
subsequent explosion of the universe. All the same atoms are there
but in entirely different forms and environments. Even if it WAS
the same "you" the person, having no recollection of previous life
and having been reared in a totally different environment, would
be qualitatively different than any previous manifestation.
Either that or the little light goes blip forever.

| Ray, (this is a response to .3)
There have been especially low moments in my life when
i seemed to be susceptible to 'fighting the demon' dreams.
One time in particular lasted a few months and my dreams
increased in intensity to the point that I was sitting up
and yelling in my sleep. A frequent theme was fighting
the devil, and shouting "in the name of Jesus" seemed
to just barely squeak me out of trouble, almost as if
the "devil" was only letting me get by this time, but...
next time it might get me.
During this period of intense dreams, I was involved with
a real crudball. And now that I look back on it, he
bedeviled me. He psychologically tormented me, was a
real leach, and it was very hard getting away from him.
Shortly after making my break from this horrible
relationship, my horrible dreams ended. Maybe there's
something going on in your life that is making you so
unhappy that it's showing up in rotten dreams.

re.0 (Frank)
There is definately a choice to be made in the mountain dream.
A choice between a lower material world, which could be connected
with the sexual drives and a relationship, and the upper spiritual
path or the attainment of some goal. Also in the first dream houses
and structures often represent the human psyche. Your psyche was
being assailed by many "whirlwinds" which could either be concerning
somewhat flighty people or various problems welling up froml the
subconscious which you are weathering well.

947.16 | Weird Dream! | JOUST::YERAZUNIS | I blame Society! Society made me what I am! | Fri Jan 27 1989 22:24 | 61 |
| Here's a truly bizarre dream. It recurred a few times, but hasn't
been around for a while:
I wake up on a flat, black, glassy plain. The sky is black
also. I am naked. There is a chilling wind.
A _heavy_ voice booms out "LET IT BEGIN!"
Across the plane a burst of light appears. The light coalesces
into a wolf. The wolf runs toward me, growling, and leaps at me.
I dodge it, grab a back leg, and dash it again and again against the
black glass until it dies- whereupon it disappears...
Another burst of light. A barbarian (Hun, I think), appears and
charges me. I reach- and find that my hand now holds a sword, and that
I am wearing bronze-age armor. After a difficult battle, I slay the
barbarian, and he too vanishes without a trace...
The horizon flashes again, and a modern soldier charges toward me. But
my sword is now an M-16, and I am now wearing a flak jacket. After a
brief firefight, the soldier dies and vaporizes...
The dream continues like this for many more episodes- including
such diverse scenarios as tanks, helicopters, wooden clubs, bare
hands, and starship-troopers powered armor. The dream itself contains
an illusiory memory that it goes on for a very long time, many such
gladitorial battles. The battles are always very hard, but somehow
I always win.
Sometimes the opponent is human, sometimes it is recognizable, (real
animals, fantasy creatures... ever fight an Alien? :-) ) and sometimes
it is somthing of which I have no previous knowledge of (What looks
like ten or so points of light, orbiting each other without discernable
order, and shoots fireballs at you??? Sure beats me!)
Other "illusory memories" and observations inside the dream:
Weapons change with each battle, sometimes better, sometimes worse.
I am often wounded- but the wounds heal when the next opponent
materializes.
I'm not allowed to keep anything from one battle to the next...
not even exhaustion. Every battle starts fresh.
Somehow I know that, in every case, I will have weapons such
that victory is will be barely possible.
The hostiles are just that- hostile. They aren't interested
in surrender or peaceful coexistence.
I'm being tested... but I don't know what _for_. The entire
process is being monitored closely... but I don't know who or
why.
What could this battle dream mean?

Re: .12 Good point, Karen (one I was going to make). I've noticed
most of you begin dream interpretations with the spiritual or
metaphysical. I'd recommend you first evaluate what your stress
level has been lately. As with "Buns" his nightmares (preferable
to daymares) ceased after changing his quarters, i.e., his cause
of stress. Nightmares can also be caused by metabolic changes.
Also eating habits. (When I was a kid I used to dream most of the
nights I'd snack on cereal prior to bed. Since they were mostly
fun dreams I developed the habit of snacking at night. A tough
habit to break; believe it.)
I've also noticed the first thing a few of you do is immediately
invoke a deity. If its just a dream, your deity may not like all
those false alarms. :-)
Another thing I've noticed is I sometimes dream about subjects
talked about prior to bed; its fresh on my mind and its the first
handy thought my sub. latches onto. (Dreams can be exciting with
a little pre-planning. Wink-wink, nudge-nudge.)
