My DTN # is 266-5450
in Lkg at Littleton, MA.
I work third shift (mid-8:00 am) so it will be a little dificult
to get a hold of me.
One of my roommates is on the Esotericon committee and can get me
answers to almost all questions.
I don't have the phone number for the hotel but when I do I will
reply with it.

| Here is the phone number of the Holiday Inn-Jetport
where the conference will be held.
(201) 355-1700
I had to call information to get this, it seems that the committee
member in the house had no idea of the hotel's phone number.(sigh)

935.4 | who's going??? | USACSB::OPERATOR_CB | DO WHAT THOU WILT | Wed Jan 04 1989 05:42 | 7 |

We are going for at least one day and would like to see
some of you folk if at all possible.

935.5 | all those people!!!! | USACSB::OPERATOR_CB | DO WHAT THOU WILT | Thu Jan 12 1989 02:52 | 13 |
|
WOW! All of those people!?!? how will we all fit in the hotel?
but seriously... will there be things available to do for people
who dont have the 35$? Will people be able to look around and pick
up literature, see displays, ect WITHOUT paying 35$? (is the 35$
paid ONLY if you want to hear a speaker?) I sent a request to the
address listed a few replys back but have not yet received a reply.
But perhaps they are sold out and giving out further information
would only result in too many folks showing up....Please provide
us with an update on how this turned out! :-)

935.6 | | VAXRT::CANNOY | Convictions cause convicts. | Fri Jan 13 1989 15:05 | 13 |
| It's rather unlikely that you will be able to do much of anything
except sit in the hotel lobby without paying the membership fee.
As a long-time organizer of small and large science fiction conventions,
I know the the vast majority of them don't make money and the committee
(or if they are very lucky, the organization that sponsors it) end
up footing the losses.
The expenses are great for a small, focused convention like this.
I'd find it unusual if you were able to go into the dealers room
without a membership badge. It's not unknown, but unlikely.

935.7 | Trip reports? | WHEEL::DONHAM | I'll see it when I believe it. | Tue Jan 17 1989 11:22 | 14 |
|
Did anyone make it to the conference? I was in NYC over the weekend
ut couldn't make it due to prior commitments. I did get over to
The Magikal Child on 19th; had a great time there, especially when
the owner leapt up onto a chair and shouted, "For the next five
minutes, everything in the store is half price!" There was quite
a stampede to the register.
Also, I attended a lecture by Sheila Attig at Unicorn Books recently
(Sheila is listed as a speaker at Esotericon). I came away with
the distinct impression that the woman knows naught of what she
speaks. Distinctly unimpressive.

935.8 | Yep I made it | DELNI::BEECHER | | Tue Jan 24 1989 22:56 | 14 |
| Yes, I made it to the con; but came down with some type of 'martian
death' flu just when i got home the Monday afterwards and this is
my first day back at work.
RE: 935.7 I think your correct about Sheila Attig. She impressed
no one at the con either. Her method of "teaching" advanced tarot
is to tell every one to "read my pamphlet" and then huddle in a
corner with a 'favored few'. Other workshops in Shamanism, Chinese
Herbalism and Creating Seasonal Rituals were well worth attending,
and were also much better presented. Be happy to file a more complete
report when the room stops spinning.
