    Hi,
    
     I am rather ignorant of both astronomy and astrology. Could you
    explain what these two planets aligning means (in layman's terms) ?
    Also what is the heart center of the Milky Way ? Who/What is there ?
    How will this be a channel for energy and what type of energy ?
    
      I had a fair idea of what the Harmonic convergence was about but
    this one has me lost.

    Inm astronomical terms, it means that the two planets converge to
    a specific point in the nightime sky.  "Heart center of the Milky
    Way" is apparently supposed to mean "the center of the Milky Way
    galaxy."
    
    I'll leave it to our resident astrologers to explain the symbolic
    significance of this event.

    Hi all,
    
    I used my little astrology program to figure out the exact time
    of the Saturn/Uranus conjunction on October 18th, just in case
    people want to plan activities to the minutes :-).  The calculations
    came out as follows:
    
    
    	5:14 AM       conjunction at 27 degress 49 minutes Sagittarius
    
                      until
    
        7:06 AM       when Uranus moves to 27 degrees 50 minutes
    
                      until
    
       10:39 AM       when they are again conjunct at 27 degrees 50
                      minutes
    
                      until
    
        4:02 PM       when Saturn moves to 27 degrees 51 minutes
                      and this particular conjunction configuration
                      is complete.

    Should I convert them to Pacific Daylight Times for use out here?

	I'll give this a shot and try to put it in lay terms, so to
	speak.  Uranus "symbolizes" for us an underlying energy that
	resides in the collective unconscious and embodies ideas.
	These ideas erupt from time to time, and those individuals
	who are open to them will try to present and embody them
	for the larger group.  Very often, these ideas are ahead of
	their time and are not appreciated until many years later.
	However, they will be expressed and most likely will begin
	the shake-up of the status quo.  Most of us don't like change,
	and Uranian ideas/inspirations/insights almost always herald
	a change of how things are.  Here's a quote from "The Outer
	Planets and Their Cycles - The Astrology of the Collective"
	by Liz Greene -

	"If an idea suddenly bursts into being in the outer world, it
	has had to travel up from the depths, and it's coloured by the
	sign through which Uranus is passing.  The sign represents the
	sphere of life which will be changed or transformed by the new
	idea.  A few people become its mouthpieces, and it starts to
	work like yeast within society.  But it will take a very long
	time before the forms of the world can be altered enough to
	accommodate it.  Or you might say that it will take a very long
	time before individual people are capable of integrating it into
	their lives without some frightening distortions.  Jung thought
	it took around 80 years for some new content emerging from the
	collective unconscious to work its way through the different
	levels of society.  He was making an intuitive assessent, since
	of course there is no way we can measure such things.  But this
	time span he gives is roughly the time it takes Uranus to return
	to any given sign.  The Uranus cycle, as I said, is eighty-four
	years.  It's the prophets and visionaries and artists who seem
	to catch the  new idea while it's still boiling and bubbling in

	wonderful new idea.  Why don't we make a set of laws which
	incorporate it?"  Then they give honour to the handful of
	Uranian people who first had the idea, even though it was 
	originally heretical."

	Saturn "symbolizes" the builder of form and structure and
	boundaries.  When we have a combination such a Uranus and
	Saturn, then we will have the urge to make the idea material
	in some way, to give it outer substance.  Liz Greene states
	that there is a sense of urgency with this combination, of
	feeling the necessity to take the "ideas" and "do something 
	practical" with them.

	The zodiacal sign Sagittarius represents for us a number of
	things.  Here we reach for new ideas and information and
	experience, an expansion of our awareness to include 
	something larger than us, to expand our minds with new
	philosophies.  It can also represent large organizations
	and idealogies, organized religions, higher consciousness
	movements, etc.  It is through the sign Sagittarius that
	the Uranian new ideas have been pushing their way up from
	the collective unconscious, and we are all aware of the
	struggles that are going on in this arena.  What forms these
	new ideas take is up to all of us.

	Also, remember that there is a personal element in this as
	well, and would take understanding your own birthchart and
	looking at the house this transit is moving through, the
	placement of your own Saturn and Uranus, aspects to them,
	etc.  What we could each do is allow ourselves to be as
	open as possible at this time to seeking a clear vision of
	our own growth path and what we can offer to the larger
	whole, and then from there take the steps to manifest them.

	As far as the Galactic Center is concerned, I'm not really
	sure what this means for us and I am sure that it is not
	a coincidence that it is involved in the configuration.
	Maybe someone else has more insight into this?

    I guess that includes me.
    
    It's there.  It is a very "active" place.  We can't see it very
    well because of dust clouds.  Its a nice place to study, but
    I wouldn't want to visit there.  It probably contains a very
    massive (at least hundreds of solar masses) black hole.

         I have read of this also.  I think it was in a pamphlet I get
    from the A.R.E.  
         I just wanted to stress the point of this being a *very* strong
    period.  It is my understanding that we all should be very positive
    in thoughts and actions during this time.

    The following is an exerpt from a collection of astrological articles
    in a volume titled:  _Spiritual, Metaphysical & New Trends in Modern
    Astrology_ (edited by Joan McEvers).  I have some comments inserted
    in the text, bracketed by [].
    
    The article is by Philip Sedgwick, and is titled:  Galactic Studies

    	"...The galactic center...bears the same relationship with our
    Sun that the Sun maintains with the Earth...The Sun...revolves around
    the Galactic Center in a cool 250 million year period.  Given 5
    billion years of solar existence, this cycle has repeated some 20
    times.
    
    	"...Because of our involvement with the Sun, this galactic point
    is highly relevant in our scheme of things.  Any object which is
    in itself a nucleus has a certain sense of centrality.  This suggests
    that the point automatically finds itself containing other influences
    (or people) within its grasp, presumably in the interest of leading
    toward a common, highly purposeful goal.  Recognition and advancement
    of an uncomfortable nature go hand in hand with this point...the
    reason is enlightenment.
    
    	"Individuals with connections to the Galactic Center automatically
    acquire information of an enlightened nature.  The information,
    however, can be blocked and such blocking creates additional
    complications in life...an inability to think logically about life
    situations...This semantical ignorance does not connote lack of 
    knowledge, rather it refers to the access of...higher and enlightened
    information which the individual chooses to ignore.
    
    	"The information exuding from the Galactic Center is ahead of
    its time by six to fifteen months.  The person using this data is
    likely to encounter resistance.  The typical reaction [of others]
    to such new input is that the connectee to the Galactic Center is
    accusing others of being wrong through the dissemination of insight.
    [however,] Alternate realities of right answers universally exist
    without a conflict of information.  This realization fits neatly
    into the awareness of the Galactic Center.  To ensure that this
    information, which may be somewhat ahead of its time, is received...
    it needs to be imparted objectively.  The third party technique...
    "I knew someone who..." or "I read where...," and
    other...non-confrontive phrases, works well.  The Galactic Center
    presents an urgency of expression and...[with this technique]
    the subconscious [of the listener] is seeded with the next
    steps.  The Root Chakra, the releaser of blockage and creator of
    receptivity, activates and opens the psychic door for use of the
    seeds planted.  It will take time. [What I infer here is that Sedgwick
    is counselling persons with this special connection in patience
    and oblique, non-threatening ways of communicating their special
    insights with others, so that others will act more speedily on them
    for having been "seeded" with care and delicacy.]
    
    	"An interesting phenomena results when the individual imparts
    the channelled information of the Galactic Center.  This person
    receives a bonus for imparting such wisdom, an insight which can
    be applied collectively and usually bears a strong personal statement
    for the individual tuning in...
    
    	"Information from the Galactic Center falls into the category
    of channelled input.  However, this type of channelling does not
    require losing consciousness, trancing or altering one's state of
    mind; it just happens.  [So *this* is what all you DEJAVUers are
    so capable of! :-)]  The beauty of this method is that it remains
    completely inconspicuous.  Only those being connected with the pipeline
    from the Galactic Center recognize the symptoms of that mode of
    channelling.
    
    	"The Galactic Center challenges those connecting with it to be
    radical, courageous in spreading information, speculative without
    attachment to rightness (or righteousness) and open to free and
    abstract association in the mind.  These people, in reality...are
    the innovators of new ideas, those willing to use new, untested
    and untried ideas, and in true Sagittarian fashion, they are the
    ones relied upon to get from here to there in less time and in a
    more directed manner..."

    about flexibility in choosing both the mode of participation as
    well as not struggling to pre-format the inspiration you may hope
    to receive in this meditation or its concrete manifestation.]

    connections to this point.  Having your precise birth horoscope cast
    will give you the information on whether you have:  planets, angles
    or lunar nodes at 25 - 29 degrees Sagittarius *OR* at 25 - 29 degrees
