I used to sit next to a Churchy type (at another company) that had
a detailed PERT chart for the end of the world spread across his
drafting board. Just during the time I that I followed it there
were more schedule slides and revisions than the average DEC project.

"Does this mean we're going to miss Armageddon too? I thought the
Rapture was supposed to be a prerequisite..."
Depends on who you ask. There are at least three schools of
interpretation for this aspect of Christian eschatology:
pre-tribulational, mid-tribulational, and post-tribulational, or
"pre-trib," "mid-trib," and "post-trib," for short. The "tribulation"
is the bad times just before Doomsday. "Pre-," "mid-," or "post-"
signifies a belief that the Rapture will come before, during, or
after the tribulation. Pre-trib and mid-trib are the two most widely
accepted schools, along with the ever-popular "wait and see." The
gentleman responsible for the latest Rapture rumors was pre-trib.
(He was also far out of the Christian mainstream, pre-, mid-, post-,
or otherwise.)

Gee, I hadn't even heard that one of the predictors was from my
city! Right now Ypsilanti is more busy trying to figure out who
is responsible for the three dead bodies found this month in the
city.
I'm rather surprised that we have a fundamentalist element
in Ypsi. Ann Arbor, Michigan (home of the University of
Michigan...anybody see "The Big Chill?") and Ypsilanti (home of
Eastern Michigan University which I attend part time) are both bohemian
college towns filled with ex-sixties radicals, New Age bookstores, and
liberal intellectuals from all over the Midwest.
Whoever the person is, they must feel very out of their element...as
much as I feel in my element in this environment.
Come visit one of the most beautiful cities in the Midwest, or,
Ann Arbor's sister city in Nicarauga that the City Council adopted and the
city sends money to...or if you're in New York, check out the letter
the city of Ypsilanti sent to the UN divorcing our citizenry (by
public vote) from the illegal activities the Reagan administration
is carrying on in Nicarauga...
Stepping down from the soapbox...

RE: .31: 'I think' is the clue to it all, perhaps.
If one thinks that heaven is there, and 'existence' is here, and
the twain touch for a nanosecond at the instant of death, then there
is indeed not here.
But, if one lives in an eternal moment of enlightenment, or rapture,
there and here are one and the same.
For some it happens rarely, for others (saints and Buddhas and Jesus)
it happens far more often. And for others it never happens.
I think.

the CHRISTIAN conference, but it seems to apply here too.
I've noticed a bunch of posters stuck to signposts along Route 2 (in

that it starts October 28. Who is posting these and where did they get
the October date?

Here in DC, the people doing the posting and handing out the
flyers seem to be members of the Unification Church. So, I
suspect, although I haven't verified it, that the Rev. Moon
may be getting released from prison in October. Just a
guess.
