852.0. "Stores in or near Itasca, IL?" by WRO8A::BLUM () Sun Sep 11 1988 16:02

    Can anyone give me the names of metaphysical bookstores and crystal
    shops in or near Itasca, Illinois? Major cities in the area are
    Schaumberg (sp?) and Chicago.

    Regards,

    	You might want to look in the RELIGION Notesfile. Topic 192
    "File 18" note .14 is a fantastic source listing. I did a quick
    check and found several listed in Illinois. (REGENT::RELIGION)
    if you dont have it.
    	Give any thanks to Mr. Morgan. whose input is getting more useful
    as time goes on!   ;-)

852.2Other references, please?WRO8A::BLUMTue Sep 13 1988 13:2621
    Craig,

    I looked into topic 192, notes .13 and .14 as you suggested. I
    appreciate your help, but the note deals with references for
    organizations for satanism and the occult, and cult religions, which
    is a far cry from what I had in mind.

    By "bookstore" I was refering to a store which would sell books,
    tapes, and other things like those you'd find in the New Age Catalog.
    By crystal shop, I was refering to a store where you could purchase
    crystals (quartz, etc.), and various precious and semi-precious stones
    and related items.

    I'm not interested in the occult or things related to it.

    Thanks anyway, Craig.

    Regards,

    John

    You might want to try asking around in Health Food Stores?

    I'm sorry but I can't pass this one up.......I tried...but I just
    can't...curiosity ect.

    	What do you see as the dif between "New-Age" and Occult?

    Thanks,
    Craig
852.4Sorry, don't have time for discussionWRO8A::BLUMWed Sep 14 1988 15:3417
    >>	What do you see as the dif between "New-Age" and Occult?

    Craig, I really didn't want to get into a discussion (I just don't
    have the time -- Where do some of the "active noters" find the time
    to participate so much in so many conferences???).

    I have some friends in Itasca I visited recently who are just getting
    interested in metaphysics, and I was trying to find some resources
    in their area they could go to.

    Your suggestion about asking around in health food stores is a good
    one; I'll pass that on to them.

852.5i know of two!!POBOX::SEIBERTRPerkyFri May 29 1992 18:0422
    This note is waaaaay old and I doubt the original noter needs
    this info anymore, but for those of you checking up I know of two
    bookstores in the area.

    One is called The Quest and one is the Inner Eye. I've been the
    Quest. Its rather small but it has a decent supply of books and
    I noticed it does have some crystals. I'm just can't recall the
    town off the top of my head!!! If you call information, they'll
    give you the phone and you can call for directions. I live in
    Hoffman Estates and it only took me about 20 min to get there.

    The Inner Eye is in Lombard. I haven't been there yet but it is
    supposedly bigger.

    These are considered "Occult Bookstores". I went to by books on
    Astrology. I also noticed books on different types of religions
    and some health food type books. I really didn't notice anything
    on Satan nor would I have been interested.

    I hope this helps someone at sometime!!!
