| I have a small catelog of astrology software from a company that
specializes in such, but the programs are geared primarily for use
by Astrologers and are fairly expensive ($100 - $400). If you want
more info let me know and I will look up the information for you.

808.4 | Help for ASTROL.FOR;1 Program | EXIT26::SAARINEN | | Fri Aug 26 1988 14:57 | 13 |
| I copied a program from someone in this conference, I can't find
the note as to where I or who I copied it from. The file was
ASTROL.FOR;1, could the person please send me mail as to who
it was. I type at the $ RUN ASTROL.EXE;1 to start the program,
but after I enter the Birth Data, I only get asked if I want to
enter New Birth Data, and I don't know how to get the actual
Birthchart printed out.
Could that somebody send mail and send help!
Thanks,
Arthur

808.5 | How to use ASTROL program | DRCS::ABEYA | I'll fix you a program in no time ! | Mon Aug 29 1988 06:18 | 23 |
| I'm using the program. It's really great but I agree that
it lacks a bit of information, although it's really
easy to use:
just type
$ Run ASTROL
then you have to enter your data exactly in the requested format:
you must put zeros if your figures are smaller than the
ones in the example: eg: I'm born in Geneva which is 46n30 and 5E50
but I must enter the data ghe following way: 46n30 005E50
When the system prompts you for New Birth Data, it has in
fact alredy processed your data in a file called CHART.DAT
So, you press CTRL/Y to exit the astrol program, and then
$ print/que=..... CHART.DAT

808.7 | Astr-31.arc on net... | NEXUS::MORGAN | Experiencing the Age of Xochipilli. | Thu Sep 08 1988 03:50 | 12 |
| The program I refered to in .1 is shareware. I have it in my account
now. Try getting it at:
Nexus::disk12:[morgan.lunanet]astr31.arc
Astr31.arc is 246k long (how's your disk quota?). It seems to be a very
good program written by David Rice, a regular contributor on MagickNet.
It features color, exploding boxes, and a few charts for famous
persons such a Mickey Mouse and Charles Manson.
It probably requires CGA and runs on IBM and compatables. If you
copy it please send me a short blurb saying that you copied it.

808.8 | Copied over fine, but.... | AYOU17::NAYLOR | Drive a Jaguar, fly a Cheetah | Thu Sep 08 1988 07:39 | 5 |
| OK, I copied it over onto my IBM compatible - now how do I get it
to run? All I get is an error message saying something along the
lines of "not configured to run".

808.9 | First couple steps... | NEXUS::MORGAN | Experiencing the Age of Xochipilli. | Thu Sep 08 1988 18:58 | 7 |
| Well for starters try de-archiving the file with arc521.com or
Narcxx.exe. After you get the program de-arced then read the
documentation. To get a feel of the program type "menu" at the dos
prompt. That will start the program.
There may be a configuration program in the archive. I don't use
it so I can't give anymore real advice.

808.10 | A shameless plug for cscmas:: | NEXUS::MORGAN | Experiencing the Age of Xochipilli. | Sat Sep 10 1988 18:01 | 9 |
| You can get a copy of narcxx.arc or arc521.com and tons of other
software for PeeCees and compatables from:
cscmas""::sys$msdos:[*]
at last count there was over 1800 programs in this account.
Personally I use narc21.exe which is menu driven. Try it you'll
like it.

| Once you get used to the US way of writing dates it works great!!!
I had a hand-written chart from some time ago somewhere, so I'll
have to dig it out and do a comparison. Now all I have to do is
work out my Lat and Long!
One question - when I was born, we were on DOUBLE daylight saving.
How can I configure this into the input screen?

808.13 | astro50 for IBM PC's and clones | VITAL::KEEFE | Bill Keefe - 223-1837 - MLO21-4 | Fri Dec 08 1989 20:15 | 28 |
| The following is compliments of Mike (CSC32::MORGAN) Morgan who took
the time (over an hour) to load the program down from a BBS.

-----------------------------------
There have been a couple requests for an astrology program
that will run on PCs and Clones.
Well here it is. It's David Rice's latest shareware
offering--ASTRO 5.0. It's a monster program that takes up 538804
bytes unpacked.
It's a nicely written program with professional looking menus
and easy setup. It is good? I don't know. I'm not an astrologer.
You try it and decide for yourself.
You'll need a copy of pkunzip to unpack the program. It takes
591 blocks of VMS diskspace and the zipped file is 302509 bytes
long.
----------------------------
It's located in: VITAL::astro50.zip
You'll also need pkunzip.exe from the same directory if you don't
already have it.

You can get the whole PKZIP everything from
CSCMAS::SYS$MSDOS:[ZIP]*.* (copy in the evening or they'll hunt
you down, I'm told)
It contains a self-unzipper (pkz102.exe). Load it and run it. It
will create all the pkunzip programs and documentation. They you can
unzip the astro50 stuff.
