One reminder: since it's Europe, you should also decide about the

| It's really great that you organize something on this side
of the "Big Pond". I'll most probably be there (providing
I recovered from DECworld !). If you need a hand for
anything (reservations, suggestions, organization) I'll
be glad to help.
Re: .-1
> you should also decide about the language....
I don't think that this is a problem: we have international
meetings at EHQ every day, and in this case the language
will automatically be English (isn't it the "official" DEC
language anyway ??). Of course if you have a dialog with
another guest who feels more comfortable in another language
you are free to switch.
I haven't have enough time in the past to follow this file
regularly (I already follow 12 technical notes files daily !)
but I realize that it contains so much information which
are more important in life than "How_can_I_write_a_sophisticated
program_to_do_this_or_that" thant I finally added it to my
daily priorities !

Ines, it was partly intended as a joke: we have so many languages over here,
Switzerland uses four already, so why not raise it as a problem?
Partly I was serious: I thought of taking my wife with me. She is Polish, speaks
Dutch and German, will understand English a bit, but when she starts speaking
it, I always ask for subtitling (don't worry: it's what she says to me when *I*
start speaking Polish....).
And about your daily priorities: I feel the same for DEJAVU!

OK, just how does one get the upside-down question mark and the

with what I currently have?
(Slight diversion, but I'm dying to know......)

| Ref. 805.0 (Carla)
Hmmm, this topic has gone quiet - so I guess it's about time that
somebody revive it and here we go:
Carla's problem of finding a location for the Euro-DEJAVU Autumnal
Party for Saturday, 1-OCT-88 has been solved, I am happy to
announce :-). It will definitely be held in Switzerland, Geneva.
And since I just managed to move out of a *tiny* studio into my
new apartment, it will be happening there.
Therefore, anybody serious about joining the party, please mail
me directly and any further logistics will be dealt with off-
conference-line. (Don't want to figure as an open-ended guest house
for the rest of my life(s), or am I the only one needing occasional
peace and privacy to get my act straight again <8*) ?)
No rules about who may join the party, well, only this one (just
made it up): anybody believing in life(s), whether past/present/
or future ones, please refrain from sending a substitute, unless
it be a ghost or spirit ;-)
Until I hear from you, there's nothing left to be done but get on
with my *moving* business ;-{
Jolly good weekend to everybody,
Esther.

| And did we have fun :^)
Though I never figured out what happened to the spirits, they were
summoned beforehand, must have missread my directions.
And the levitation part of the evening also failed miserably - think
bellies got rather too full as the hours rushed on ... but apart
from that, I would say it was a delightful evening, well, at least
that's what I think. Now let's see what the others have to report.
Thanks to everybody involved for having made this event happen and
I was tickled pink having met *new* charming people.
Love, Esther :-)
PS: And let's repeat it - or rather, I think a follow-up might be
appropriate soonish. (Inputs welcome.)

805.15 | Party goes wild - ducks go quack | UNTADI::DONALDSON | the green frog leaps... | Wed Oct 05 1988 10:51 | 63 |
| The party was great, much hilarity, lots of *good* energy.
However, I have to confess that we concentrated on what one
might like to call 'the earthly plane'. This is how it went...
17:00 Esther, Carla, Dave and John (that's me) start drinking beer and
*very* hot, *very* good bloody marys. We've got lots of
bread, cheese and wine.
We examine the Mythic tarot deck. And feel good about
the energy and the long-awaited get-together. We talk
about absent friends and the unique qualities of the
conferencing network. Hey, this is serious stuff you
know.
18:00 (things are getting hazy you understand...)
Ines and Lisa arrive, with lots of bread, wine and cheese.
We have some conversation about palm-reading.
We start drinking Mumm's champagne, thoughtfully supplied
by Carla. Happy Birthday Carla!
19:30 Martin and Alan arrive - with lots of bread, cheese, wine.
Alan shows us 101 things to with a sticky mess of raw
cornflour.
We drink more champagne - is the fridge full of the stuff?
Cheers everybody! (hic).
Somebody invents a silly game ...
(Well, we *were* talking about dogs and channelling at
the time ;-)).
(things are *very* hazy - is anybody still there?)
21:00? Michel arrives, he's been slaving over the proverbial
hot stove for *hours* and brings a marvellous gratin
which disappears down our throats in very short order.
(Esther, who is normally flying anyway, tries
levitating from a headstand.)
later the spirits arrive. They are all released from the captivity
of there respective bottles. There is a modicum of
spirit-throat-channelling to be seen.
Esther starts flying round the room. But pretending to be
riding on Michels shoulders. She fools none of us though.
(hic).
err.. coffee I think.
... people disperse, all in various states of OOBE. (Out Of
Bottle Experience).
next day, the ducks on Lake Geneva have a party of their own
with all the left over bread.
Can we have another one soon please? Says John.
Quack, quack say the ducks.
