752.1 | this could do it | MARKER::KALLIS | Don't confuse `want' and `need.' | Fri May 27 1988 14:19 | 34 |
| Re .0 (Joe Jas):
Well, if your ex-roommate wasn't evidencing anything in the paranormal
realm, a simple "fumigatioon" should be all that's needed. Otherwise,
best to consult a specialist.
Some Oriental traditions use noise (occasionally fireworks) to drive
out evil/negativity (generally in the form of spirits). In the
United States, especially in an apartment or urban/suburban house,
this might not be practical.
My advice: put a burner in each room, leaving the doors open but
the windows closed. Burn one of the following incenses in each
burner, lighting the most centrally located and working outwards
in a clockwise direction:
Sandalwood
Frankincense
Vervain
Solomon's Seal
Rosemary
Nettle
For industrial-strength, use Asafoetida, but be warned: you'd better
wear an air mask.
Make sure all clkosets, cupboards, hampers, cabinets, and the like
are open.
Let the rooms fill with odor, then open a _single_ exit point.
There should not be a "whiff" of your roommate left.

Try burning Cinnamon Incense. It's suppose to keep an area free of
earth-bounds. I and several of my friends have used it and the
areas that we had used it in really felt "cleaner".

Hmmmmm.... I once had a room mate who did the same thing! He also
punched two in my wall.
I don't think he liked me.

But John, its easy for you to clear a room of negativity. You just
have to step out of it.

752.6 | The Psycological Factor | CACIQE::ESPOSITO | | Sat May 28 1988 20:32 | 23 |
| Perhaps, you might consider the "cleansing" process from a personal
"internal" standpoint. If the impression's left are of an extremely
negative nature then you should consider the possibility of your
perceiving them as such, psychologically? It would be important to
seek to understand the why, and the wherefore of it and then with paint
brush in hand colorize the ambiance with a different hue.
I have heard discussed the possibilty that house's, castle's, apartment's
and other dwellings retain to some degree the "aura" of incidents
that have occurred within their walls?
Many religions have ritual's or ceremonies they perform to "purify"
dwellings. While in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War I saw
Buddhist monks many time's perform such ceremonies to insure a tranquil
ambiance in homes that were about to be occupied anew.
I just though I'd mention the psychological factor, since incense and
the like won't necessarily help you deal with the incidents you
yourself must do psychologically. Talking about it is the first step in
getting things into perspective internally.

Thank you. Yeah, "the "Aura" of incidence that occured within
their walls" - THATS what I wish to get rid of. I think I'm doing
OK psychologically, and I am talking to *everybody* about it...
I did the *right* thing by requiring him to leave. People *must*
be responsible for their actions, 100% of the time; any cheap excuse
like "Oh, I was all f*cked up and didnt know..." is bullsh*t!!!
I dont particularly give a good God damn about people's personal
issues anymore (Whaaaa! I didnt have a...) - I have *enough* of
my own load_to_carry, thank you... AS SUCH, the consequences are:
Youuuuuuuuuuuuure OUT!!!
A glimpse: "YOU GAVE ME *THIS* (a birthday present) TO TRY AND
BRIBE ME INTO LETTING YOU KEEP THE TURTLE? (huh?) >!SMASH!< it goes
into a thousand pieces 18" above my head...which was resting on
my pillow!
The turtle, a 30 year old box terrapin, driven from his swamp
home by the_bulldozers, was rescued by me from the pavement_mosters,
who would have surely just run it over and killed it. He was one
of the most beautiful animals, with his yellow skin and beak, yellow
spotted shell (on black) and his big brown eyes. He's somewhere
out on the Quabbin resevour watershed now, hopefully headed *away* from
any human inhabitants of the area. It sure got a good dose_example of
what *they're* like, when my ex-roomate held it in one hand, shouting
at the top of his lungs and pounding holes in my bedroom door with
his fist. Sure, I would have *liked* to keep 'im (her?) for a while,
but the thing was just so freaked out I could easily tell all *it*
wanted was to go free. Hopefully now, it'll be able to live out it's
natural life span in a somewhat protected space and, in Peace.
Me too!

The incenses, smudges, and the like can help cleanse the region
of the "aura" residuum you've asked of. There are other ways, but
that's an easy and safe one.

I have a very soft spot in my heart for chelonians, too. I grew
up with turtles, and find them nice. However, it's worth mentioning
that the Box Terrapin is an endangered species and is illegal to
keep as a pet.
I'm glad it's in the Quabbin. I hope it lives long, prospers, and
propogates.

| re: 1
A teacher of natural healing who deals directly with accutely ill
patients prescribes that the actual furniture and as much of the
room where ill health has resided be cleaned with rosemary and water.
I know that the herb rosemary has been suggested as an incense but
along with this I did want to mention this method. Rosemary essence
comes in liquid form in many health food stores, or you could make
up your own by boiling pure water with rosemary and then straining
it. This teacher suggests putting it in a basin and literally
washing down walls, floors, furniture. The concept is not so much
cutting the negativity or ill health of others, but REMINDING ourselves
of our strengths and who we are. (Rosemary - for remembrance)
I offer this advise because it has worked for me. It has helped
me NOT TO GET HOOKED IN TO OTHER PEOPLE'S PICTURES of dis-ease in
all forms. Certainly this person's angers seem to fall within this
category.

752.12 | Try this | MEMV03::BULLOCK | Flamenco--NOT flamingo!! | Thu Jun 02 1988 13:57 | 12 |
| You can also try this--
Place a clear quartz cluster in each room, preferably in a window.
The quartz cluster has a cleansing ability that works especially
well to clear the area of "bad vibes" :-).
Another thing that clears personal negativity is to put apple cider
vinegar into a warm bath (yes, *really*) and soak in it for a while.
Best of luck, whatever you decide!
