     While this note is lengthier than I otherwise might have made it,
I did it because I think some of the information about individuals, etc.
involved, may be important to many of you.
                 * * * * * * * * * *
To take place on July 15, 16 and 17, 1988 at the Sheraton Plaza La Reina Hotel
in Los Angeles, CA.

THe Crystal Congress is a multi-faceted forum dedicated to increasing our
awareness and understanding of crystals.  It is a place where we can focus
on that most remarkable and noble member of the mineral kingdom that speaks 
to us of beauty, clarity, focus, symmetry, resonance, love and peace.  It is
a coming together of every point of view, to teach, to learn, to look, to 
wonder, to challenge and to widen the existing boundaries of what is possible,
so that we can come away with a greater wealth of knowledge and deeper insight
into ourselves and our world.

As a result of our desire to expand the scope of the Congress, we have initiated
a very exciting project called *CRystal Link* (TM), a live, simultaneous
video/audio linkup between Los Angeles and Moscow, to call forth a mutual
expression of peace, cooperation and partnership.  Using "The Empress of
Lemuria" and "Ki" (the two largest cut and polished optical crystals in the
world) [I believe the Lemuria crystal is one I mentioned in a note last
year that was in the Isis Rising gallery in Marin...it is about the size
of a beachball and sold for $160,000] as emissaries and focal points of this
message, The Congress will truly become a global event.  This three-day
gathering will assemble many of the most respected authors, researchers,
health care professionals, artists, exhibitors and teachers into a "living
library" of the most comprhensive knowledge and information on crystals
available anywhere.

THe Crystal Congress has been designed to reflect all perspectives of this
rapidly emerging field, and presents widely varied points of view.  Our aim
is to create the richest reservoir of information on crystals available.

Something very special happens when we bring this wealth of talent, information,
and knowledge together with some of the most beautiful crystals in the
world, as was the experience of last year's Congress.  There is and inde-
finable quality that emanates from and permeates into each of us when we
come together with our friend from our neighboring kingdom.

Moderators:  

LaVar Burton--an actor whose roles include Roots and Star Trek, the Next
  Generation.  "Our earth is crying out for healing.  No one can afford not
  to respond."  Firewalking, Rolfing, RE-birthing, Kundalini Yoga, Crystal 
  Work, and the Medicine Way have been and continue to be a part of his
  personal process.

Stephanie Kramer--actress, singer-songwriter, and star of the Tv series,
  Hunter.  Stephanie has a personal interest and love for crystals, and
  recognizes their inherent power.

Speakers:

Joseph Heller--first president of the Rolf Institute before founding Heller-
   work, which brings the principles of structural dynamics to bodywork.
   He also spent 10 years as an aerospace engineer at the Jet Propulsion 
   Laboratory, where he gained extensive experience in structural stress.

Glen S. Carlson, M.D.--trained at Stanford University, and is an anatomic
   pathologist (at the City of Hope Medical Center) who works extensively
   with cancer diagnosis.   Three years ago, after a year of illness, Glen
   tested positive and was symptomatic for the AIDS virus.  With guidance from
   Lazaris, he incorporated a rigorous program of self-healing using crystals,
   visualization and meditation.  All symptoms have disappeared and tests 
   for the virus have been negative.

Brooke Medicine-Eagle--A Native American Earthkeeper, a visionary, teacher,
   healer, writer, poet, weaver, performer and celebration leader.  Also a 
   licensed counselor, a practitioner of NLP, and a Feldenkrais instuctor.
   She uses crystals as one fo the tools of her trade.

Marcel Vodel, Ph. D.--Was a senior scientist with IBM for 27 years, becoming
   one of the most prolific inventors in the history of IBM's San Jose
   General Products Division Laboratory.  He received numerous awards and 
   holds over 100 patents.  Presently he is combining his lifetime study
   of energy conversion in crystalline coating systems, phosphor technology,
   and optical microscopy with a study of the powers of mind and spirit.

Connie Church--a freelance writer who has written several books, including
   her best-selling Crystal Clear, and newly released Crystal Love.

Theresa Dale, Ph. D.--The director of the Society for Bioenergetic Research.
   Dedicated to educating health professionals, she conducts objective
   measurements of gemstones and crystals for healing purposes. 

Si Frazier--A gemologist, mineralogist, geologist and teacher, with many
   years experience at various universities.  He is completing an 800-page
   book called The Encyclopedia Of Quartz.  Si and wife Ann have a gem and
   mineral import business and one of the world's most comprehensive
   libraries on the subject.

Angeles Arrien--An anthropologist, specializing in cross-cultural myth,
   symbols, and universal beliefs shared by all humankind.  She is on the
   faculty of the California Institute of Integral Studies and the Insti-
   tute of Transpersonal Psychology, with a focus on bridging the fields
   of anthropology and psychology.  She is the author of The Tarot Handbook:
   Practical Applications of Ancient Visual Symbols.

Sandy Cole--A fashion designer and manufacturer, and specializes in crystals
   as fine art.  She curates crystals for private clients and did the
   first major crystal shows for Dyansen Galleries in Beverly Hills, New
   York and San Francisco.

Damian Quinn, G.G.--Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain,
   and has extensive experience in the gem and jewelry industry.  He has 
   recently been working in the area of importation of quartz from Brazil.

Marilyn Ferguson--Author of the Aquarian Conspiracy, the publisher and
   editor of the Brain/Mind Bulletin, and she has a forthcoming book,
   THe New Common Sense:Secrets of the Visionary Life. Marilyn is an
   internationally recognized futurist and spokesperson for our times,
   integrating new systems of thinking in global, political, and economic
   areas.

Dr. Vasant Lad--Native of India, author of Ayurveda, The Science of Self-
   Healing and co-author of The Yoga of Herbs.  Dr. Lad, the leading
   Ayurvedic doctor in the United States, teaches the science of using
   gemstones for self-healing.

Pennie Opal--Owner of The Rock Shop, a retail store in Oakland, California,
   specializing in the sale of crystals.  Through her sales experience, she
   shares a valuable perspective of sales trends in the crystal industry.

DaEl Walker--Best-selling author of the Crystal Book and The Crystal Healing
   Book, and co-author of The Crystal Source Book.  Recognized as an inter-
   national authority on crystal energy and healing, he has appeared on 
   hundreds of radio and TV programs.  He is the founder of the Crystal
   Awareness Institute, the first of its kind recognized by the State of
   California to provide continuing education units in crystal healing for
   nurses.

Paul R.D. Silbey--Co-founder of the Uma Quartz Crystal Jewelry CO., pub-
   lisher of Uma Silbey's THE Complete Crystal Guidebook, and co-creator
   of the best-selling video Working With Crystals and of several 
   visualization/meditation audio cassettes.

Steven Halpern--Internationally known composer, musician, and producer, who
   understands and works with the healing power of music, incorporating 
   crystals into the instruments of his craft.

Bernard McGinty, M.D.--A physician in family practice, a past consultant
   and examiner for the California State Acupuncture Advisory Board, and
   homeopathist who has done research on crystals in the healing field.

Glenn Lehrer, G.G.--A master crystal cutter, graduate gemologist, jewelry
   designer, sulptor, and teacher who has been working with crystals and
   gems for 13 years.

Stan Padilla--Native American artist and educator, and author-illustrator
   of the books Dream Feather and Song of The Seven Herbs.  As a member
   of "The Solar Lineage of the Americas" he is an authority on ceremonial
   uses of crystals from the Incas to present time.

Rock Currier--25 years experience as a collector, dealer, and importer of
   crystals.  His considerable knowledge of mining in Brazil gives him
   a unique perspective on the crystal marketplace.

Steven I. Subotnick, D.P.M., M.S.--A clinical professor of biomechanics
   and surgery, and an adjunct professor of Kinesiology.  He is the author
   of Cures of Common Running Injuries, Running Foot Doctor, and Sports
   Medicine Of The Lower Extremities.  Steven uses crystals to hasten
   recovery from surgery.

Uma Silbey--A crystal healer, teacher, jewelry designer, author of the
   popular Complete Crystal Guidebook, and co-creator of the Working
   With Crystals video.

Frank R. "Nick" Nocerino--A parapsychologist and researcher who holds the
   first teaching credential for parapsychology issued by the California
   State Board of Education.  "Nick" has spent 25 years researching the
   mysteries, magic and truths of crystal skulls.

Harold Kristal, D.D.S.--A dentist for 41 years, focuses on electro-acu-
   puncture, homeopathy, and nutrition.  He is president of the University
   of California Holistic Dental Study Group, and uses crystals in
   post-surgical healing.

Katrina Raphaell--Noted healer and has authored two best-selling books,
   Crystal Enlightenment (Vol. I) and Crystal Healing (Vol. II).  Katrina's
   vast knowledge in the transformative spiritual arts has revolutionized
   New Age healing with her work in "the ancient art of laying on stones."
   She founded the Crystal Academy of Advanced Healing Arts in Taos, New
   Mexico.

 I am new to crystals, so this would be excellent.

 
 By the way, thank you frederick for taking the time to type all that.
 I didn't even know there were that many different catagories involving
 crystals.

NO PROBLEM!

John Mitchell--Internationally known skeptic, locator of lost jewelry and
   debunker of things 'New Age'. As a member of "Skeptics 'r' Us" Mr.
   Mitchell has done research on crystals as 'useless toys of senseless
   adults'. He is the author of _What Bunk!_ and has vast experience in the
   ancient field of 'laying on the bull'.

    
    	Back before the commercial heyday of crystals, my mom took me
    an my best friend to "Herkimer Diamond Mine" in upstate N.Y. (She
    drove the poor VW bug all the way there in third gear - boy was
    my dad bummed when I rat'd on her!)
    	Anyway, the thing was to try an find "perfect ones". I remember
    digging around all day, only coming up with a couple of small ones.
    Other, more "rock houndish" people there would show off perfect
    schards, about the size of your fingers. Apparently, right from
    the ground.
    	When I see commercial ads taking up the entire back page of
    a "New Age" type rag, selling crystals, I have to wonder just how
    much it is the crystal, not the dollar, which drives their popularity.

        I found out this week that the "Empress of Lemuria" crystal
    I mentioned in .0 is not the same crystal that I "got to meet"
    in the Isis Rising Art Gallery in Marin last year.  I know nothing
    more about the "Empress" than what .0 states.
