| Wait a minute, did you actually use DIR/TITLE=TOPIC_NAME as
written? I never wrote it to be used like that.
What you should have done is DIR/TITLE=reincarnat
Don't write out the whole word, just enough to pick up the various
forms the word may take in Topic titles by other Noters. You can
also use the command SEARCH reincarnat if DIR/TITLE fails.
The HELP file in Notes is very helpful as well, as is the file
listed in Note 1.3.

736.2 | See Topic 77 | DICKNS::KLAES | Know Future | Thu May 12 1988 11:26 | 10 |
| Using the command DIR/TITLE=reincarnat, I found a Topic on the
subject at 77.
You spelled reincarnation wrong, by the way, which is probably
why you could not find Topic 77. Of course it also does not help
if Noters do not title their Topics clearly enough to explain what
their subject is about (That's where SEARCH subject comes in handy).

736.4 | ENOTES | PBSVAX::COOPER | Topher Cooper | Thu May 12 1988 12:14 | 22 |
| Let me plug ENOTES once again. Enotes is a "batch" notes reader.
For example to read note 76.3 in DEJAVU you would say to DCL:
$ ENOTE EXTRACT dejavu 76.3
Which would type the note on your terminal.
To get a directory of all notes containing the word "reincarnation"
in their title and put it in a file you would say:
$ ENOTE DIRECTORY/contains="reincarnation" dejavu *.*-
/output=reincarnation-dir.txt
Pretty much anything you can do from NOTES you can do from ENOTES,
plus some additional things (e.g., their is no way in NOTES to
get a directory of notes containing a word in their body). It is
most useful run in as a batch job.
The conference DECWET::ENOTES contains all the details, plus several
other handy tools for using NOTES conferences. SELECT or KP7.

| I am a firm believer in reincarnation. To me, this makes me feel
100% better than just believing when you die, you die. I am
rather new to this "Notes" Conference, so I am excited to see
people who are interested in the same subjects that I am.
I am also interested in past life regression - any comments?

Hello. There are other topics on reincarnation (notably
number 77.) Also, 701 is related, at least in methodology
(it is on rebirthing.) Maybe someone else remembers other
mentions of past life regression. If not, that would be a good
candidate for its own topic.
Cheers (as they say in many places!)

There is a good article related to this topic in the most recent
issue of "New Age Journal". The book "Life after Life" is mentioned
several times and that may be a place to start - leaf through the
book at a bookstore to see if it is right for you.
The article talks about primarily those people who have 'died' during
surgery or related incidents and what they experience during that
time. It was quite interesting.
